President Donald Trump is preparing to issue an executive order aimed at eliminating the U.S Department of Education, a move that aligns with his long-held goal of reducing federal involvement in education, this initiative has been in the works for several months with Trump repeatedly expressing his desire to return education responsibilities to the states.

Trump has consistently criticized the Department of Education, calling it a "big con job" and advocating for its abolition since his first term in office. His vision for education involves reducing federal oversight and allowing states to manage their own educational systems more independently, this approach is part of a broader effort to shrink the federal bureaucracy and promote state-level governance.

The draft executive order instructs Education Secretary Linda McMahon to take all necessary steps to initiate the dissolution of the Department of Education, recognizing that any permanent changes would require congressional approval. The order is expected to be issued as early as Thursday, following McMahon's Senate confirmation as Education Secretary.

Although formal abolition would require congressional approval, Trump can start the process of dismantling the department through executive actions. This means that any bill to do so would need to pass both the House and the Senate, which could be difficult given the current political climate.

Since the Department of Education is essential to upholding educational standards and funding schools and students its sudden closure could have a major impact on public education in the United States tens of billions of dollars in aid for K–12 schools and college tuition assistance could be disrupted.

Republicans are accused of pushing for profit educational models by the agency supporters, who contend that the department is necessary to uphold high standards in public education, democrats, unions and educators who see the department as essential to guaranteeing fair access to high-quality education would probably oppose the closing process.

In conclusion, Trump continued dedication to minimizing federal involvement in education is reflected in his executive order to destroy the Department of Education, but congressional support which is still unknown will be necessary for this plan to succeed, the department possible collapse raises important issues regarding the future of American public education and the function of federal supervision in upholding academic standards.
