What might happened inside... In a recent Pak-US diplomatic controversy on whether Mike Pompeo did or didn't discuss terror with Imran Khan can be marked first US attempt to draw a rift between fragile civil-military relation in Pakistan, since this government came into power.

The US said Pompeo raised the issue of Islamabad taking "decisive action" on terrorists operating in Pakistan

Pakistan says the issue never came up in Pompeo's call with new PM Imran Khan

Later, the US said it stands by its statement that terror was discussed.

To my mind, Pompeo would have raised this issue with Khan in one way or another but inexperienced Khan couldn't pick his diplomatic intricacy & underestimated the sensitivity of this issue. He might be responded in his typical casual manner but when US foreign office issued details of this talk to media then high officials, here, realised that Khan has been diplomatically decieved by US Secretary. So to avoid any distress they come up with complete denial of any talk on terror.

Why I be of this opinion because this complete denial is senseless. Those who are familiar with US rhetoric, they know US always ask for 'do more' & terrorism etc, whenever they had any talk with Pakistani official. Now the question rises, when they are used to of discussing terror with us then why they wouldn't do this time. Their stand by with their statement clearly suggests that our officials are trying to fix this issue underhand.

There is need that Khan remains more careful on diplomatic sphere because such controversies can bring a real fracture to civil-military ties.

Listen to what Shah Mehmood Qureshi said about this incident, that somebody from Foreign Office was part of the telephone conversation and the issue of misreporting is raised by Foreign office instead of Imran Khan. This is not possible that IK alone, and together with a trained diplomat from the Foreign Office would have missed a comment on terrorism, specially when Pakistan has a sensitivity towards this subject.

USA foreign office has been doing these dirty games long with many countries including Pakistan before, and no one had guts to correct their wrong doing as no one wanted to offend them. I was listening to analysts earlier today and everyone agreed that American statement was visibly weak as their foreign office tried to hide the contents and in the same standing tried to appease Pakistan and that they want to work with it. If Pakistan was lying, Americans would had happily revealed transcript of this conversation to pressurise Pakistan. But since they are lying, they cannot do that as Pakistan would have recording of the conversation as well.

If it was Nawaz vs USA, (haha, funny what example I am giving) then I would had given more weight to US version as Nawaz was a low grade human. Between Imran Khan and USA, I will side with Imran Khan every times and I trust him as an honest and straight forward person.

Concluding, USA did a dirty game and got a slap on their face. Stupids thought IK was Zardari or Nawaz Sharif.

As a closing remark, take it easy, its not a big issue. USA has learned a lesson and next time they will try to be a good bit*ch.

Pakistan is not budging or bending after US face-saving attempts which is a second sign that Pakistan has a solid stance.

You need to listen to SMQ press conference where he categorically rubbished American side of story. Not only that when some reporter reminded him about American insistence of their stance, he fired back saying let them be, we stand by with our version of events.

Anyone who knows IK, talking about military operations on Pakistan soil specially in Pakhtoon heartland, infront of him is like rubbing him the wrong way. I doubt the likes of pompoe are not aware of IK stance about military operations. He will be a fool to mention that while talking with IK.

My take is that Pakistani version is correct and someone in state department tried to play smarty pants to spoil and sabotage the visit before it started. The way Indian media latched on this story is a give away. Would be interesting to see as to how much influence that bitch Nikki Haley got in state department.

But in any case, not least bothered about American shenanigans, we did a preemptive diplomatic strike and took any talk of so called safe heavens in Pakistan off the negotiating table. Focus will be only Afghanistan.
