Pak willing to give up claim on Kashmir: Musharraf

I'd go a step further. Kashmiri's enjoy more rights than even the basic Pakistani citizen who is no more than a slave to the Army's wishes.

Coveniently forgot to mention that more guns are pointed on those civilians on your side. ;)

Indeed. By the 'mujahideen' you guys have sent.

You keep crying about Army in Kashmir, you guys conveniently forget that the Army has been there because of the terrorists you sent. There were no BSF or CRPF in Kashmir Valley before 1989. Wondered why?

Gee.. and talk about complaining about Army, isn't all of you country enslaved to the General? Go figure!

IHK insurgency-related death toll revised: ‘70,000 dead in Kashmir’

SRINAGAR: A human rights group based in Indian-held Kashmir (IHK) on Friday offered new figures on the death toll from 17 years of separatist fighting, saying that close to 70,000 lives had been claimed by insurgency-related violence, a figure markedly higher than the latest police report.

The Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Societies (JKCCS) had on Thursday estimated that up to 50,000 had died in IHK violence. But, as JKCCS coordinator Khurram Pervez pointed out, that figure was based on the group’s review of news reports, which were mostly based on police handouts, and therefore not considered reliable. The group’s door-to-door surveys conducted in every district in IHK showed that nearly 70,000, most of whom were civilians, had died from insurgency-related violence, Pervez told The Associated Press. “Neither do we accept the government figure of 41,000”, he said, referring New Delhi’s announcement on Thursday that 41,181 people - 19,987 insurgents, 16,253 civilians and 4,982 security force personnel - had been killed between January 1, 1990 and October 31, 2006.

In an apparent rejection of the government figures, Kashmir’s inspector-general of police, SM Sahai, acknowledged that many deaths had gone unreported in the early years of the violence.

“The initial years (of Kashmir insurgency) were chaotic . . . and hundreds of incidents went unreported. ”The separatist All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) had said on Thursday that more than 10,000 had died in the nearly two decades of violence gripping IHK.

A combination of police and human rights figures compiled by AP had previously put the death toll at 68,000.

You don't see a lot of things. You don't see the genocide of Kashmiri pandits in the late 80's and early 90's by your mujahideen folks.

Boo Hoo, too bad! No wonder there hasn't been another Kargil!

You’re kidding right?

The army has always been there and hammered the Kashmiri's whenever they demanded rights of any sort. Notable examples include the rise of political violence at the start of the 60's because of Indian manipulation in Kashmiri politics and the crack downs, curfews and etc. In this era we also had the infamous Srinagar religious episode where relics of the Holy Prophet were taken and mass riots ensued. Shameful amounts of violence were used to put them down.

Being Kashmiri myself I hope for a union.

FYI there is no Army in the Valley. Being a Kashmiri, I thought you'd know that. The Army is at the IB and the LoC. We had the BSF and the CRPF in the Valley. That too contain the terrorism infested by what you call the 'mujahideen'.

The BSF & CRPF were deployed after the "jehadi insurrection" of the late 1980's that lead to the non-Kashmiri sunni genocide including that of Pandits, Gujjars and Shias.

Please note, now on I won't be responding to propaganda and inflated stats being posted. Want a debate, discuss facts. Else don't bother.

Dude if you want to differentiate by all means do so they are all the same for us be them BSF, army = armed forces of India.

Too "contain" right I'm afraid they were and are doing more than that. You may want to look up the recent BBC articles of them "containing" quite peaceful demonstrations.

I seriously cannot believe you think there was no Indian armed forces before the "invasion" as you call it.

By the way I'm not giving you propaganda it's facts if they are not too you liking fine don't debate.
