Pak Suzuki Motor backs liberalised trade with India

Actually sir, for someone with a family and no private transport, a car like this Mehran is still a luxury.

You would no better then me, for Ages suzuki and couple of other companies are delivering poor quality products at sky rocket prices compared to india, china, sri lanka and bangladesh. I think it is time to move on and develop something better safer and something that looks good to eyes. It's 2013 while we get same shyti mehran design for the past 10 years plus with different weird names like what the heck is Euro II.

sri lanka and bangladesh are also too small to have local auto industry, they allow import of new and old cars.

I think there is nothing wrong in doing business with your neighbor...One of the best examples is China-India business model...clearly our local companies are not delivering both Toyota and Suzuki are releasing third class products. If a company is established by india if they earn and pay taxes to the Pakistan government then why not customers would be satisfied, government would earn.

For 6,52,000 PKR (3,67,000 INR), thts a complete rip off. Btw 2.5-3 lakh INR (4.5-5.5 lakh PKR) u get these stuff

Regarding setting up plant in Pakistan, I highly doubt most companies will do tht bcz they have existing plants built specially for export of very same cars. However, companies specializing in commercial vehicles like Tata, Ashok Leyland etc myt do tht.

Yes and still low priced then in Pakistan.

Still standards should be introduced if the name of vehicle is to give you a ride from point A to point B under terrible conditions then people should buy even cheaper product how about enclosed modified chingchi No? costs 400,000 cheaper then mehran/suzuki [maybe spelled wrong]...So we should go by the standards and logic...I believe if and if suzuki wants it can introduce much better product in the same price range..too much of political interference and greed ruins companies.

Euro II is the European Emission Standard. This simply means Mehran fulfills Euro II standard.

EURO II/III/IV/V r pollution emission norms.

India currently follows EURO III n IV depending upon the size of the city...:)

Pak Suzuki Motor is only supporting liberal trade in parts. They shall never back importing complete vehicles from India. Simply because they can not compete as far as price is concerned. We buy 800 cc Mehran for around 700,000 while in India 800 cc is for around 215,000.

Looks like car/two wheeler companies in Pakistan do milk u guys unnecessarily.

thats mostly because of 300% excise and sales tax, Pakistani consumer will not get any benefits no matter where parts come from they will still be heavily taxed.

Actually it is Bharat Stage not Euro. Those norms are made according to AIS (Automotive Industrial Standards) by ARAI(Automotive Research Association of India) :)

Makes sense- India is the 5th largest automotive producer on the planet and is set to be in the top 3 within the next 12-15 years. Automotive giants have flocked to India, invested heavily and set up massive production facilities in India. India has gone from a nobody to a giant in this sector that is outpacing most of its competitors- UK, France, Brazil etc. The Indian automotive market is also obviously massive and one of the fastest growing around and coupled with India's bright long term economic prospects the Indian automotive sector is only going to go from strength to strength . There is a reason India exports its vehicles to Latin America, N.America, Africa, Europe and Asia.

If the existing players allow it- Pakistan should jump at this opportunity.

.
why cant Pakistan import from Iranian corporations? those guys make good looking cars.
