On topic, Schengen-like visa system works in a Schengen-like region.For now,Our region is a mess so let's keep it down to simplifying visitor visa norms.

Bangladesh was learnt to have backed the Pakistani proposal.

Don't actually agree with you there.I'm all for peace and normalization of ties under whomsoever is at the chair(BJP would pursue normalization as well) but all I ask is that should follow reciprocation from Pakistan.All I am seeing currently is India getting played like a fiddle by Islamabad.We are giving out real goodies in return for what seems to be only promises in return.

A non-starter of an idea, Schengen type of visa would entail Pakistan giving someone a visa which would also be valid for travel in India. Fat chance of that happening !

Sorry sending terrorists is not our state policy. So this will not benefit us.

May be Schengen type visa which is valid for Afghanistan, China, CIS, Maldives, Russia, India but each border port is free to enforce their own immigration rules. And having a visa is not a gurantee of an entry into the country. A person may be refused from port of entry despite holding a valid visa
