A joke of a country - their PM's word and a joint statement has no meaning.

Pak obsession with Kashmir makes them highly predictable - among the other unsavory adjectives that could be ascribed to them. Being predictable makes them easy to outmaneuver.

Last year, after the FS level talks were called off, Pak was trying to paint the picture that India was not interested in talks. Now, they themselves have to run away by taking refuge behind an issue that was never agreed to be discussed in this meeting in the first place.

Besides, what idiot would even consider discussing Kashmir; how is the NSA competent to discuss a political matter? Was the NSA expected to agree upon plebiscite?

Among the many well articulated points was how the GoI shouldered pressure to not call off the talks in face of CFV and terror attacks along with restraint in retaliation; implicitly, it may well mean there is not reason to show restraint anymore. This could get interesting.

If Kashmir didn't exist, your Pak Army would create an issue similar to that to consolidate its position in the Pakistani citizenry's mindset. The Treaty of Accession was signed in accordance with the Indian Independence Act passed by the British Parliament which created the states of India and Pakistan. Pakistan has no legal standing. Next, they'd be demanding Hyderabad.

From now on Pakistan shouldn't take Indian PM words seriously. Its not the first time after making promises they started to create drama. Modi should have told Pakistan about their terms the day they agreed on talks this way it would have just ended the very same day.
