once he told me BD will have 50trillion$ GDP and that day i wash my hands from him :D

I said 5 trillion not 50 trillion USD. This is achievable with a moderate growth rate of 7.5%. But Bangladesh has potential of much higher growth and currently eying 10% growth rate by 2021. Even China maintained 10% growth rate for 30 years and many Indian states also maintain more then 10% gdp growth rate and Bangladesh should also eye into that. Anything in between 8-10% sustainable GDP growth is achievable and in that case projected economy with be 6-11.5 trillion usd. But 5 trillion with 7.5% growth rate is a realistic target which can be and should be achieved.

hey man kindly wake up.... pakistani people dont like USA .. but can we do any thing as all our politicians are on bribe by US, same goes to Bangladesh they cant do ant thing with out the permission of india so to win hearts NO BENEFIT LAH

And it is because of the people of Pakistan that is straining ties with U.S. Why did you see supply routes blocked for 6 months, sometimes no aid, permanent ban of U.S bases and soldiers inside.... This is a good step. Nothing worse can get than this. You have to be realistic. We cannot have our relations with the U.S totally cut-off. We could if we only have an alternative maybe like Russia as an ally, which in fact is not becoming possible... Loosing U.S.A totally is like becoming sanctioned to the rest of the world...

.
Yes it is on the card of GoI & probably they try to pressurize GoB but agian who the hell care:D...

BTW for Captain planet this institutions always predict on so much conservative target remember in 2005 Gold Man sach predicted Pakistan's GDP nominal in 2050 at 2 trilion dollars & said that Pakistan will have arround 208 billion $ gdp in 2015 but see pakistan got 211 billion $ in 2011 & in this fiscal its going to be 230 billion $ soo dont worry bangladesh will acheive targets before 2050...

Yes I know about that and agree with you. Specially IMF and World bank make projection with very conservative figure but people like idune are very fond of using them for his personal reason.

All the developing countries has done much well then expectation and projected growth rate. For Banngladesh it was projected growth rate of 5-6% for upto2050. But within 6 year they have raised it to 7.5%. The most important thing that went for Bangladesh is foreign remittance growth and really exceptional performance by RMG sector. Bangladesh is eying 30 billion RMG export by 2015 and to raise it by 3 times by 2020. For remittance by 2030 target is 100 billion usd. IT, Pharmaceuticals, ship building, light manufacturing etc will play big role for Bangladesh's GDP growth in the coming years. Not to mention if the story of high oil and gas deposit at the bay of bengal is really true it will change the fate of Bangladesh completely. Just wait and watch ... if things move towards positive direction growth rate will cross even that of India.

But corruption, self centric politics by all political parties, electricity and infrastructure are the things that needs to dealt with as soon as possible.

I hope that Bangladesh flourishes - I really do ! But right now Bangladesh-Pakistan relations are not nearly as important as some of the other stuff that concerns us; I do, however, commend any action that brings our two countries together and mend our old ties but we're concentrating on some other things right now. Things like - What becomes of Afghanistan ? What impact would Iran's continued ostracization have on Pakistan and how do we manage that ? Our economy is hurting massively so how do we revive it ? How do we cope up with the energy shot-fall ? How do we proceed with respect to Indo-Pak relations when India is quickly progressing into becoming a major world player and yet our bilateral issues remain unsolved...what impact would that have on Pakistan ? How do we deal with the insurgency in Balochistan and the militancy in KP ? And numerous other localized things ! So please don't over-inflate the importance of Pakistan-Bangladesh relations in the current context ! I wish we can achieve some of the unity that we had in '47 but its not happening on this visit because its not the agenda that we'd be working day and night to pursue for the next couple of years - We've got far bigger concerns right now !

P.S Pakistan has been facing the brunt of war for the past 32 years ! First the Afghan Jihad, then the Civil War in Afghanistan and then the WOT and its spillover onto Pakistan ! Additionally we've also had to cope with the occasional border skirmishes, Kargil and a few stand-offs with India. For a decade we faced sanctions with, possibly, more looming over in the near future ! Considering all of that - I think Pakistan has done rather well....better countries would have collapsed right now ! And yet we, despite being bloody and bruised, are still moving forward ! A 2-3% GDP growth-rate might not set the world on fire but considering what we're going through...its still pretty decent ! And might I remind you that Pakistan was growing at an extremely commendable rate during Musharaf's time and in 4 years with Zardari at the helm we've digressed but all of it just doesn't turn to dust so whosoever comes to power in the next election whether its Imran Khan or PML (N) or a coalition of sorts we'd start to bounce back !

P.P.S On the issue of the apology ! I don't buy the whole '3 million figure...and hundreds of thousands of women rapped'; I don't even buy the organized 'genocide' assertion either but if it helps you guys sleep better and stop this vitriol against me and my country men - then I do apologize for whatever human rights abuses that my Armed Forces may have committed ! I do hope that your Government too punishes members of the Mukhti Bahini too who butchered 'my Bihari brethren' and apologizes for it !

P.P.P.S And No don't give me the BS about the 'Stranded Pakistanis' to score a few points; I hate my Government for that shameful act more than the Biharis themselves ever can !

US is a sinking ship. Only way for Pakistan is to go up, as it had hit bottom already. This is from an American taxpayer whose money they are wasting in unnecessary wars.

lol this is not the bottom, this is just the beginning, just watch....couple of years ago i never used to hear about Pakistan in the US, now all i hear are negative things about pakistan. Don't you think you are writing off US easily even though it still stays on top? U.S has seen lots in its history - Its capital burnt down by England, withstood great depression - worse situation than now, rise and fall of Kaiser Germany, Japanese empire, third Reich, Napoleonic France, British empire, USSR and has stood like a colossus. Not to forget, this nation has the best military the world has ever seen and 11 aircraft carriers that carries 75 state of the art fighters which patrol the whole world.....no nation can boast that....this credit crunch is just a bleep, US had these all throughout history. Not to forget that this nation controls all the major oil nations in the world with more than 1000 military bases in the world.

@ Donnot make castle on the air. Making this sort of fictious datas will not help. Where from you got the figure that our growth rate is 7.5 %. My dear friend this figures are being made and propagated by the Awami Leaquger and their great friend India. You know about the Padma bridge ? What happened to it ? You know about the quick rental plant of AL, they said they already produced 4 to 5 thousand mega watt of electricticity !!!!!!! Where it has gone ? Still I am on load shedding and writing to you.

@ A big conspiracy on our garment's product is going on. You are talking about rammitance, it might fall anytime rather it will be burden for us. Do you know that the relationship between Bangladesh and Islamic world is deteriating every day. On that day what Hillary Clinton had hint to the govt ? How dare our ministers criticises the policies of Hillery Clinton ??????

Start campaigning for Imran Khan, he is willing to draw a state level apology. If it really happens ever, most Bangladeshi people will tie up with Pakistan in a wide open mind trying to forget everything (it's demand of time now). I'll personally visit once to see part of my erstwhile country.

You are right. He seems to be honest in this regard...

When did I say that current growth rate is 7.5%??? I said average growth rate of 7.5% in the next 40 years.

Yes awami league has made lots of blunders but this is not the end. Many such government will come and go. But this time it is likely to the full stop of Jammat with the hanging of all of its top leader. Ershad party will be gone with his death. BNP and BAL will also face the same after the departure of Hassina and Khaleda. People of Bangladesh are unlikely to give them further chances.

Regarding electricity ... some claim are partially true but not fully true. Yes production has increased but not all rental plant can not be operated due to high price of oil and due to lack of maintenance many plant gone out of service. In the mean time demand has risen to 7000 MW though PDB put it to 6000 MW. Summing up all it tells the real story. But BNP-Care taker government should have atleast think about the issue. Nothing much happened during their time. This government is trying desperately but corruption and blunder of the rental power plants has washed away all the good work. But there is another question what would happen if this rental power plants would not have been built... then will it not cause short fall of another 1000 mw of electricity???

Lack of efficiency and knowledge of proper engineering project management is the real problem to implement projects in Bangladesh. Add corruption on top of that.

But regarding 7.5% growth rate it is achievable. Not only that more that is achievable but Bangladesh government needs to play its card wisely and efficiently.

@ I remember in those days captain planet and his gong used to make of fictious datas against Pakistan Central Govt !!!!!!

@ He is talking of growth of 7.5%. In those days our combined economy was compareable with the South Korea.

That is how it looks from the outside, inside its hollow. There can never be two number 1 in the world, it is always one nation, that is going to be China unfortunately. What you hear about Pakistan is Zionist media based propaganda. Pakistan has great potential once it gets its geopolitics fixed.

Any US-India axis is going to fail big time, zionists are running the US to the ground with their greed and short-sighted policies.

And to guard these ladies I see some "Mastans" wearing black "Lungi" with big "Danda". Some times I see some known beautiful girls are coming and showing their ups and downs and taking away our valuable dollars.($)
