But some people are sayig the heli was meant to take injured to the hospital. And if it wasnt armoured then........ taking injured to the hospital in a heli which cud be shotdown...... isnt it better than that to leave the injured where they already were then?

look like our forces are more stupid then our thoughts when there was ongoing terror operation they send a helicopter to recovery mission and it was hot cake target for taliban . and here is result of 2.5 millions dollars brand new helicopter lose .

Injured might have died. That helicopter might be providing surveillance. It might also be dropping off SSGs or snipers. It was a combat mission. So what if it got hit? What if anything 3xAPS massacre was in progress? Place was residence to many PAF families. Lesson that was learnt from APS was no delay in reaction so that is exactly what the response was this time and will be in future. No problem if a helicopter goes down. We can get new one. Human lives that were saved are much precious than a helicopter especially a utility one!

Evacuating injured cannot wait till area is clear or they will bleed to death....

Like Oscar said, these choppers are not armed and not armored either. Unfortunately this is what was available at the moment, so had to be used.

Cobra's are deployed elsewhere, Mi-35 and Battle Hawks' would have been ideal, unfortunately Mi-35's not delivered yet, and Black Hawk's are not available. Even a Bell412 equipped with a M134 would have helped.

We seriously need to get Mi-35's fast. Plus equipping our utility choppers with M134's would help as well.

Yeah it's understood.
The heli is badly damaged which suggest that they have thin sheets of metal. Impact doesn't seems to be strong enough to cause this much damage. They are lightly constructed I think.

Ulla Bro, Doesn't matter if you equip the AS350 with hellfires, it's not made to "TAKE" hits, it can't.

You can use it for surveillance, medivac, utility, but for combat, it is seriously handicapped. Before you arm it, you need to Armour it as well. It's basically a replacement of our Lamas.

Cobras or Mi-35's would have been better suited for this job.
