Well, it's a rumor, all we can say, propagated by PAK DEF, who are now claiming that 18 new BLK52s are requested, along with AH1Z and Perrys.

AH-1Z's were on offer under the CIEF(counter-insurgency-enhancement-fund) but the program is withdrawn.
OHP's are available on conditions.....1. release Dr.Afridi.....2.go after Haqqani network.....3.state dept waiver that we are 'behaving' ourselves.

You'll see Dr Afridi case being withdrawn or turned down soon. Tell me, how many remember that day?

How about you worry about India's foreign policy and not try to manufacture your imagination based foreign policy for the US. Shortly here, Pakistan is about to get some goodies in the form of FMS, with some additional "wish list items" by paying for it. So the US will always stand by its allies.
What you fail to understand is that the US's relationship with India is trade-based and capital oriented. With Pakistan, its very strategic. Do you know what a strategic relationship is? It is, even when you don't have money or wealth, you still have to support the strategic relationship for your own reasons. Pakistan and the US have always had rocky relationships. But they also have a relationship for over 7 decades. Even in some of the LONGEST conflicts since the WWII (Afghan War, WOT), they've still remained in a good working relationships even while the rocky terrain came and left. At this point, WOT has been almost completed, now its time for the Pakistanis to work with Aghanis and take care of this region. That's the reality and the US will fully support it like its been said many times by the Pentagon / US Government.

LOLL, what GOTUS will do is already indicated by what State did to Robin Raphel and by what the the paksitani MoD said about the US's reliability as an ally! Self-evident.

Now about the alleged goodies that "Chacha Santa Sam" has supposedly lined up; read @fatman17's post #388. That may "show you the light." Which is why the PA has had to go to scrabble up Helos from Russia.

we donot need 18, only 10 would suffice, as it will allow us to make two squadrons of F16 block 52s, so that they could compete each other better, better tactics. For 18 new F16s, we need new shelters, new maintenance crew, new logistics and alot of money.

Better to induct cheap second hand F16s and MLU them....and then after 10 years all will be replaced by PAK FC31 Stealth Aircraft.

However, i wouldn't be surprised if the COAS presented a list while on his week long tour to US.

"View every offer with suspicion" and "there is no free lunch". If USA is offering such hi tech weapons, it wont be without some string attached to it. I personally feel USA will sell these weapons to Pakistan if Pakistan declines to exercise its option of procuring FC 31 fighters from China and MI 35 helos from Russia and with a guarantee that these wont be used in any conflict with india.

Therefore, Pakistan should go for FC 31, Mi 35s and reject the american offer. I could not rule out the possibility that if drones can be remotely controlled then why cant an F 16.

agreed or not, Pakistan should not send its high ranking military officials to america (do watch movie : Dictator). Its risky...

Pakistan should get another 36 F-16s in total, 18 new block 52 and 18 used ones to be MLUed. But still if the US refuses completely to sell new F-16s to Pakistan, the number of used ones can go up from 16 to 54, that is the first 18 used ones and at least 2 used ones for a brand new F-16 .
Can anyone tell if two used F-16s _block 40_ (well maintained) upgraded (somehow) can or can not match one F-16 Block 52? To save money the total number will be kept to 36 anyhow, 54 would be the optimum for the budget at hand for F-16 procurements.
So, if it comes only to F-16s the relationship with the US is quite irrelevant.

US can not refuse the new ones as they are already approved but delayed due to monetary reasons.

i wish PAF did not have simplicity policy..thee could have bought Mirage 2000-9 used...same capabilities as F-16 at a very less cost of purchase...

In a way you are correct, these could have replaced the Mirage iii\v but it was not possible due to financial problems. A remedial course was required and that can be seen today F16 would replace theses aircraft and some would be replaced by JF17's.
