PAF should focus on 5th Generation Fighter Jets now.

If and when PAF goes for a 5th Gen, Stealth aircraft, it would be more in line with the design of J-31. Since J-31 has the same engines that JF-17 can have, would make it a natural fit due to commonality of the maintenance.

what i mean that right now we dont need 5th gen Fighter , neither we can afford it .... peoples here are talking about J-10s i would prefer 25-30 more F-16 blk 50/52 ...because of many reasons ... flight cost , maintenance , and PAF already mastered on F-sola ...

The key jet engine for J-31 will be WS-17.

A 5th gen medium thrust turbofan engine.

It takes about 15 years or more to mature a jet engine design. What is the state of the WS-17 design? I ask because after WS-17 is available, J-31 would need a few years to be tested and finalized. If it takes too long, then the program may suffer too much and be cancelled.

i think ... we need j-10b now because only F-16's how can compare with india Mig Su 29 and Su 30 ... JF-17 block 3 hopefully we will compare with Su-30 but mean while we need J-10b and some more F-16's upgrade block 50/52.

Pakistani Cheeta's PAF ... really no comparison when they fly F-16's but for support we must need J-10b now ...
Jf-17 thunder block 1 and 2 ... no AESA system but in J-10b already induct AESA ... and AESA system badly need now.

i am agreed with you F-16's is a best best bird in the world and i love F-16 too ... but main things is America will not give us remaining F-16's now and yes we can buy from other country like we bought before from jorden ... now we can upgrade them to block 50/52 but
we need J-10b too because AESA already induct in J-10b and right now AESA system is the best system for aircrafts and india has 200 aircrafts with AESA like SU 30 mki ...
so not 200 but almost near 50 J-10b we must need and with F-16's fighter ... now we can handle easily other countries threads...
