The deployment of PAF Block-52s in the WOT has met phenomenal success. Achievements made by the latest version of the F-16 in PAF inventory has been beyond expectations. A fact also acknowledged by the USAF, whose commanders have unreservedly praised the PAF for selecting the package for the Block-52s and utilising it properly and in effective manner, this was also acknowledged by the leaders of the Israeli air force during the Red Flag exercise earlier this summer.

FTR the issue in the F16 saga of this year was not money, just that 8 planes at 100 million a pop were not good enough, especially when they would add no new capability, if they were subsidised then good. The main reason was that LM wanted to keep the F16 production line open and thought it was an easy sale. Note we are paying at the same rate for the Viper-Zulu's with no problem

Lockheed does want us to buy the F35, thats a given.

I thought the MLUs were exclusively used for bombing within our territory, while the Block 52+s were kept flying out of Jacobabad sniffing out Indian Radar Signals. Well, shows how ignorant I am.

Did hear positive things about the excellence of the PAF in the SEAD sorties at Red Flag.

Is that a practice run on a training range?

My understanding was that the Waziristan bombings were carried out from Low-Medium Altitude with one small PGB on each target at a time.

PAF should try to convinced new establishment in Washington their contributin in WOT and get more F-16 for them. But what will happen if LM relocate their production line n India, getting any spare will be problematic.

F-16s were never denied to PAF. They can still get them if they want, the deal fell through because GoP wanted the Muricans to pick up half of the tab. They said no.

I thought it was all of the tab, two-thirds through FMF (Foreign Military Financing) and the rest payment in lieu of outstanding un-spent CSF- or something funds ($230 mil. out of total $699 mil. total).

Anyway just to confirm, how is JF 17 better than any version of F-16 that we have?? in what aspect? And if so then why is F-16 still our front line fighter and not JF17?

Not in load carrying capability or range (or electronics presently). We should remember it is the F-6/A-5/Mirage replacement and was not initially meant to replace the F-16 (or even F-7PG for that matter).

However, the PAF pilots I have seen in interviews go to extreme lengths to point out that it is far superior for them in the range and flexibility of the weapons and avionics that they can integrate on it. Also, it is their own platform to develop and evolve with for future needs. It has incidentally proven far superior to the F-7PG in air-combat and even as good as the F-16 in that regime.
