Bro I am saying. If we expats bring a phone. Customs in pak should note down the phone model and IMEI number and give u a receipt of confirmation. Then at excit check your phone against the receipt that you havent sold the phone. If u have the phones listed no tax should be paid. If the phones are missing then pay the tax for selling the phonesWhat receipt ? I did not understand what you are talking about. we are talking about expats who purchase mobile in country of their residence and pay all taxes and duty over there as per value of mobile phone. Why they should pay it again when travel to another country ?
Pakistan left it for custom officer to decide the value of phone so he can ask you to pay minimum amount for most expensive phone and vice vera if you give him bribe
Idea is not bad but there is already long queue at airports so would not be easy to keep record of mobile phones of every passengers upon arrival and departure ..also mobile phones can be lost and stolen ..this tax is just to steal money from expats..you cannot be rich by selling one or two phones in used condition and i think people often give second hand phone to their relativesBro I am saying. I totally agree and yes people do hand phones to relatives....it was just a thought. Really they should tackle the crime and smuggling but instead they re targeting the innocentIdea is not bad but there is already long queue at airports so would not be easy to keep record of mobile phones of every passengers upon arrival and departure ..also mobile phones can be lost and stolen ..this tax is just to steal money from expats..you cannot be rich by selling one or two phones in used condition and i think people often give second hand phone to their relatives
Under the previous policy, overseas Pakistanis were allowed to bring one phone to Pakistan without paying any duties under the Personal Baggage Rule, but this exemption was removed following reports of misuse of the scheme. There were reports of people stealing passengers’ data to register imported phones so they could avoid paying taxes.

But I stay long periods in Pak...6months at a time so local sim is normal. This is just a pak issue. Globally this is not an issue so pak Gov needs to find a viable solutionWell i have no issues with this rule, as i travel to Pakistan with my sim, which is auto roaming.. so the rule is for those who intend to use Pak sim in their mobile phones, while i am in Pak, i never use Pak sim & am still connected to the outside world, its better to get a portable pocket router while in Pakistan , as everyone uses VOIP these days....
But within the double tax treaty rules. Example...if my income is in the UK and I pay UK tax then i am exempt from paying tax in PakistanThis is very good ..I think there should be tax on expatriate income also...Many countries have taxed worldwide income on there citizens..
Yes you are right. But we are in desperate time need tough measuresBut within the double tax treaty rules. Example...if my income is in the UK and I pay UK tax then i am exempt from paying tax in Pakistan
My Brother is coming on this eid. If he comes with his personal mobile and laptop will that be taxable?
Law should be tough. Equal for all and above all fair. Unless this happens Pakistan will not prosper. Pakistani people only understand the toughest of rules of law.Yes you are right. But we are in desperate time need tough measures
