They feel neutral or positive about Indians; findings contrary to similar polls conducted by US agency

NEW DELHI: A survey by state-run media in Beijing said, more than 80 per cent of the Chinese population have no knowledge of the 1962 war with India and want the two neighbours to walk out of the shadow of conflict.

Only about 15 per cent of the respondents knew about the 1962 war in the survey conducted on the eve of 50th anniversary of the India-China war in seven major cities by the state-run Global Times. The poll was conducted to explore how the Chinese have been remembering that dispute, and what their impressions about India are now. It surprisingly yielded positive response, the paper said, contradicting the negative results of a similar poll by a US agency. The survey said, over 80 per cent Chinese felt neutral or positive about Indians while most believed that two neighbours can move beyond the spectre of war.

Meanwhile, the Chinese media, echoing the establishment's thinking, today struck a positive note, declaring that India and China had come a long way to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership. Suggesting that the spectre of war should be left behind, the tightly-controlled Chinese media in a rare commentary on Sino-India ties said, the two nations had achieved progress despite differences due to unresolved border disputes.

Just like a person doesn't remember swatting a fly years ago because its so insignificant :D

But a person remembers vividly the blood sucking mosquito which gave it malaria and remembers fondly swatting it - that would explain Indians remembering 1971 so vividly.

.
It was Mao time , China is communist country they read what their country want's to read them.

80% Chinese people hate Mao , It was most violent and worst period of China.

Even children used to complain in police if their parents speak anything against mao. neighbor against neighbor. Students against teacher , awful time. Mao was psychopath .

He killed 70 million people according to some sources for name of Culture cleaning.

Over 80% felt neutral or positive about Indians ,

The balance less than 20% are in this forum except a few I guess.

Those are the rural Chinese.

Ask the Urban Chinese what they think of India, and their response will like of SinoChallenger :D

1971 is more like a Greedy Bear who wanted honey and then knocked the beehive down from the tree but got stung by a bees.

Even today, the Greedy Bear still doesn't have its honey.

So? What is the problem with that?

They are not like Indians here getting indoctrinated in their schools or something

Again don't go by PDF post's, Jamati's and Razakar's don't exactly matter in the bulk of the opinion.

.
That only shows China is not a kind of country who glorifies its war efforts, win or lose, with its neighbors. No text books or even much media writings talk about the war. Let bygone be bygone, the next generations would have easier time to mend their relationships.

Depends on the government. Normally, the AL are very anti-Pakistan. Apparently, they also get their dose of medications from New Delhi from time to time
