India doesn't have expansive designs beyond the disputed northern/ north eastern regions. We don't want Myanmar, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan.

Relations have certainly deteriorated in recent times. India has no civilizational, ideological, religious or ethnic conflict with China, so this position is unfortunate. China is a big and powerful neighbour and you can't make your neighbours go away. Border with Bhutan, some part is unsettled, probably not dispute. But, Bhutan was controlled by India until recently, it was India not allowing Bhutan to resolve with China as we know. What map, it is a fact that historically China had no strong South neighbours, and many paid tributes to China and became protecorates of China at different time. What happened in geographic India in history didnt really concern China though.
