'Over 10 million Karachiites missing in census': MQM-P, PSP reject results

99% anti Karachiests are immigrants come from whole country to live earn and after die need land back home. Koi gora qabrustan mein bhi dafan ho Jae marne ke baad.

People understand that, what people don't understand is how can the population still be close to 17 Million when it is well over 25 million according to neutral surveys and estimations.

Karachi is the city where entire Pakistan migrates to, that is on top of regular city population grown. Karachi has always been the largest and most populated city and to say that Lahore is almost 80% of Karachi's population is nothing but a very sick ploy to further take away from Karachi of the meager share of resources that she gets anyway!

Lmaoooo

There are no "surveys" or "estimates" that say Karachi is 25 million.

ALL those surveys use Pakistan's 2011 housing survey as their "source"---the housing survey stated Karachi's population to be 23 million etc but that housing survey was disregarded as ineffective, and with huge disparities.

Hence official census was done independently without relying on the housing survey of 2011. Current census is the most comprehensive demographic study available in Pakistan. And that survey revealed that Karachi's population was around 17 million (Karachi+outskirts).

So stop harping about oh Karachi's 25 million population. It never was. It was something based on a housing survey that was declared unreliable by the very body conducting the survey. All foreign newspapers, estimates were based off of that housing survey.

And again, the reason Lahore has over 10m population is because Lahore city and surrounding rural areas have been marked as "Lahore Urban" area under census and that's the population of Lahore+RURAL AREAS SURROUNDING LAHORE...which are many.

Other than you idiot karachites, nobody gives a shit about Karachi. Karachi is just another city of our dear homeland. So we don't have to conspire entire census to "take away resources" from the god-sent "Karachi"

.
may be it is bit understated but not by the proportion mqm is saying it is. btw i was surprised by the Lahore's figure damn people need to use condoms :disagree:

I think it is probably due to Afghans who emigrated from Afghanistan to Karachi shifted to Lahore due to the gangs war for years in Karachi. Hence the figure or so-called exaggerated figure by few people here who refuses to believe the consensus.

Lol just because you know 5 families that moved out doesn't mean that people have stopped migrating to the BIGGEST CITY AND ECONOMIC LIFELINE of the country. And you claim to be a Karachiite but support Nawaz Sharif which is not possible, no sane Karachiite will ever support Nasoor Sharif. There is a reason why he doesn't win a single seat from the city.

Half of Afghanistan has descended on the city since 9/11 and you are saying nobody is coming to the city. Stop spreading lies.

More than 50,000 people have been killed in Pakistan which many have been in Karachi due to gangs wars for years. Let me repeat; for years.

I have personally encountered some people who shifted to Azad Kashmir from Karachi due to the gangs wars.
Due to the results of gangs war in Karachi, Lahore became the next potential economical hub along with Mirpur for the people who sought there away from Karachi. As the result, Karachi lost lots of people due to the result of immigration to the rest of Pakistan and the world. Even, Most of Pakistani Canadians are from Karachi. I know lots of people from Karachi who migrated to Canada, and even i am from Karachi. And you might have met many Pakistanis in Canada who too are from Karachi most likely.

There is no propaganda. Don't forget that many Afghans that resided in Karachi for years have been deported as well. Many have been killed as the result of gangs war. There is lots of factor involved which may explain why the consensus in Karachi might not be exaggerated.

Dude a word of advice, don't act like an authority on matters you have only basic knowledge of. It will serve you well in life.

Clearly, that advice will serve you better given your reading comprehension based on your preconceived assumption. Kid!

Judging by the urban sprawl of the built environment [not legal boundaries] the population of Karachi magalopolis cannot be more than 1.4 times greater then Lahore.

Ps. What % of Karchi is 'native' - that is they can trace their roots to the city from August 1947?

Minister rejects Sindh’s objections to census figures
no-img-fb.jpg

ISLAMABAD: Rejecting all objections raised by Sindh over provisional census figures, Federal Minister for Statistics Kamran Michael said that the government proposed amendment to the law before the Council of Common Interests (CCI) for the purpose of evolving consensus for usage of provisional summary results for delimitation exercise to allocate National Assembly and four provincial assemblies seats ahead of next general elections.

The Inter-Provincial Coordination Committee (IPCC) is scheduled to meet on September 8, 2017 after upcoming Eidul Azha where the provinces will give their feedback on the proposed amendment to the law under which the provisional summary results could be used for delimitation exercise instead of using final results in accordance with the existing law of the land. The final results of population census, the minister said, would be available in April 2018.

“The provincial governments notified urban and rural areas under their jurisdiction and Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) used these notifications. Sindh government declared two districts of Karachi as part of rural area out of total six districts. Punjab government notified 261 mauzas as part of urban Lahore and if excluded the population figure of Lahore would be reduced to around 9 million. We used 100 percent notified divisions of urban and rural areas in accordance with provincial declarations,” Kamran Michael said while briefing reporters here at Statistics Division building on Wednesday.

Flanked by Secretary Statistics Division Rukhsana Yasmin and Advisor for PBS Asif Bajwa, the minister said that the financial resources would be distributed on the basis of latest population census results and Punjab’s share would be reduced by 2.5 percent, however, CM Punjab did not raise any objections.

To a query regarding running of PBS affairs without any rules for the last seven years, the advisor PBS Asif Bajwa who had also assumed the portfolio of Chief Census Commissioner for holding the 6th population and housing census 2017, said that the rules were lying with the government but old rules were implemented to run its affairs until the new rules were in place.

However, Minister of Statistics said that the civil and armed forces had tallied figures with each other and only then the government tabled these figures before the CCI. “If anyone possessed any objections about the provisional results there is constitutional forum of CCI to raise such objections. The parliament can be another forum to debate such issues,” said the minister.

He explained that the provinces declared areas by issuing notifications related to urban and rural areas and the respective Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Assistant Commissioners (ACs) at districts and tehsils and the census staff was also hired from the respective provinces working in areas of education, local and revenue departments.

“We possess all notification issued by provinces for distribution of areas into urban and rural,” said Asif Bajwa and added that they implemented 100 percent notifications issued by provinces to this effect.

To another query regarding surge in population figures witnessed in Balochistan and KP, Asif Bajwa said that they had not counted Afghan nationals in 1998 census but now after they have shifted to settled areas and living along side Pakistanis so the PBS counted them that justified increase in population in Balochistan and some parts of KP.

He said that two districts in Karachi-- Mangupeer and Korangi declared as part of rural areas and it was domain of the provincial government which had nothing to do with the PBS. Kamran Michael said that if any provinces possessed any objections they must raise before the CCI as it was the constitutional forum to resolve disputes among all stakeholders.

Lahore in old city limits population would be 8.9m vs Karachi 14.9m. Also as expected explain why KP and Balochistan population growth is well above national average, afghans.

That's a natural thing no one's responsible for it.

Again this is how nature works and seriously there's nothing wrong in using safety you can't control your sexual urges always and you don't want babies every time you want to you know have some...

So when you are married and any self styled molvi sb comes knocking haram haram ......... just ask him these couple of questions ............... we are not living in perfect Islamic conditions, so for the time being wasting any sperm before it gets to fertile any egg in a proper marriage relation isn't killing any soul.

Wait does that mean i murdered billions :what:

Yes according to the logic given against population control measures.

Fifty years ago Pakistan did have family planning programs, including birth control. This changed after the 1971 partition and the 1973 oil-price explosion that made Arab rulers super-rich: after 1971 Pakistan had lost its main region of foreign-currency earnings and by 1974 the Arab oil sheikhs desired complaisant, non-Arab manpower as servants, workers to build infrastructure, and soldiers for their burgeoning militaries. Cheap, competitive manpower was the need of the day, even under "bread, clothing, and shelter" Z. A. Bhutto. So the family planning programs were eliminated.

hmmmmmmmm ............. I have no in depth knowledge of what happened to the population control programs back then ........... but if I was Z.A. Bhutto I would have told them you can borrow our men to fertile your own land. Just pay us for lending necessary chromosomes.

let them reed it too. how long are we going to shield girls and guys from each other's anatomy(i.e girls shouldn't talk about sperms or boys don't need to know any thing about periods :disagree:) girls should be involved in such discussions so they can equally play their part in population control

I think it is the girl who has to carry a baby for nine month and then go under labor pains to deliver, and afterwards raising that child ...... she would know what it means after the first baby and most probably after two she would be happy for not repeating the whole process again...........
