If Pakistani conventional forces could handle India, then Pakistan would not have lost more land to Indian military than it captured from India.

Yes, even in 1965, Pakistan lost more land than it captured.
In 1971, Pakistan lost more land to Indian forces in West Pakistan (let alone talking about east Pakistan) than it captured from India.
