All knowledge streams from India will have their origins in Hinduism. Mathematics, architecture, ayurveda etc...that does not mean it is Hinduism. Veda's means knowledge, not religious text.

One of the very first knowledge realized by the people of this region was recorded down as the Vedas.

Vedic Hinduism is not a unknown term. It is also know as Astika. Non vedic is known as nastika.

Just because you are ignorant, does not mean everyone else is.

There is a danger in disassociating yoga, vastu shashtra, ayurveda from Hinduism. People run away with claims that it has nothing to do with Hinduism or India at all and come up with variants like Christian yoga and Jewish Yoga and what not.

Not at all. All are inspired from Hinduism the religion. But they do not represent Hinduism anymore than gravity or allopathy represents Christianity.

Yoga is a totally different ball game. Yoga is one of the distinct philosophies of Hinduism. A separate school of thought that leads to god. It cannot be disassociated from Hinduism.

It is silly to associate Vastu shastra with religion. Its the best practices of the time inspired by the then understand and realities of the world.

He was born a Christian but is an atheist now. His defense of his community is only due to filial loyalty.

I would terms Hinduism as a collection of faiths, given the term 'Hindus' by others (Muslims, British) because they didn't have much comprehension of what they encountered, and simply categorised the collection of cults, beliefs and lumped it together as 'Hindu.'

AlI believe all sects of Hindus consider Vedas as supreme scriptures and use Sanskrit as liturgical language. Hinduism as a religion evolved as integration of polytheist practices across different geographic regions and polytheist practices of different assimilated ancient races. As the ancient Hindus of India also knew the community feeling because of similar religious practices while those races who didn't follow any ancient Hindu practices were considered as foreigners.

A bit of a stretch that. The worship of any deity is by no means exclusive to that deity alone. Most worship many other "Gods" too. Almost never exclusive regardless of importance. These are interconnected beliefs & it is not odd that it could be, on the whole, considered a single religion. Just non-comparable to any other.
