Ordeal of a Pakistani on foreign soil with his green passport

.
If you don't wish to carry S$1000 in your pocket or sign indemnities or suffer awkward baggage restrictions, SIMPLY DON'T TRAVEL LOW COST! I blew 2500 euros last on my last pakistan trip on Airfrance, and they even put me in first class just because I didn't like my original seat! Respect yourself and others will too.

.......................

Things start to make sense to me. We are treated in a particular manner because we beget it.

Right then I get one of the saddest realisations of my life: Home is near, but it doesn’t seem right.

Those two parts in bold are the important ones. Where Pakistan goes from here, up or down, in these perceptions, is up to all of us.

.
Never been discriminated on the basis of my skin colour here in Canada, I should add my last name is Khan and never been discriminated cuz of that either. Although the police in Mississauga and Brampton area is racist as sh-t.

.
He should have brushed up on his immigration rules before traveling anywhere

Read the comments at the bottom. Express tribune will basically take any anti-Pakistan blog and post it without going over it.

Most people disagree with him.

Here's some comments that I agree with:

Most disappointing! You wish you weren’t a Pakistani, because of a vacation gone wrong?! Preposterous. I have travelled the world over, and countries where my green passport is not given respect, I choose not to go to! I would never never never, choose to discredit my country because some place seems to dislike the colour of my passport. Unfortunately, it seems that the patriotism we were born with is sadly lacking in those younger than us. I feel distraught that Pakistan has this in store for its future! My God – apply for another passport and leave – if you dislike the one you currently have! But to let some godforsaken far eastern officials make you ashamed of being a Pakistani – disgusting!!

Dear the problem is with you not with PAKISTANI passport learn how to handle immigration matters once i was travelling karachi to dubai and dubai to nairobi in dubai they asked put your shoes off i replied i will not if u want put my shoes off with urself am not gonna do that and they have done themselves be brave anywhere when u r not carrying any kind of drugs that’s it long live PAKISTAN LOVE U PAKISTAN

This is more of a personal experience please don’t Blame your passport for this. You should have studied the rules and regulations before traveling anywhere and to the person whos saying Saudi Passport doesn’t need a visa this is totally rubbish. They do need visa for European and western countries. They even need visa to enter Pakistan which cost them around 200 Dollars.

The guy was lucky---the security officer should have send him back to pakistan for not taking his shoes off----. When they ask you to do something---be polite and oblige----. It is a known fact that the 'green passport' has issues world wide----there have been more than enough 'personal' incidences.

While flying back to the u s---I had a green card and a pakistani passport at that time----at hong kong air port---the customs officer seperated pakistani passport holders and walked us to the gate of the flight leaving for the U S----. He would not let me go to the duty free shops---well thank you----the stuff in the u s is was cheaper than the duty free shop in HK air port---thank you.

To the indian gentlemen who was asked the question ' is this a muslim name '---I would have laughed and said no it is from the land of Gandhi----. You too were lucky---the guy let you walk---.

My reccomendation----please do not confront the customs or security at airport----.

Another time---I flew to england from u s---I wanted to see pakistan play australia at the lords---I think it was in 2004---again---got back to the u s---a black female customs agent says why did you go to engalnd---'watch cricket match'---why didn't your wife go with you---where is she at---. Oh the ticket was expensive and she is here at home with the kids----. The customs agent didn't like the answer very much----.

Well i have faced profiling myself,
i was travelling back to India from Toronto via heathrow, at Pearson airport, the only people who were being screened cautiously was me and a south asian muslim family with a small kid....but.. they were polite and then when I saw the head of the family ,
We just nodded and shook heads..meh.. when in Rome do as the Romans..

One funny thing which I notice is how well sub continent people get along once out of India and Pakistan..

out of the three founders of my company two are pakistanis, one is Indian, and we have tonnes of Chinese..

I used to think , what if all these guys actually visit the PDF once.. they will be seriously shocked seeing how much we fight..

I do agree with your point that Indian and Pakistani people outside their respective countries get along well. I have a tonn of Indian friends here but never got in a fight with them. Why you ask? because discussion politics religion etc isnt one of the hot topics b/w us.

Hell forget Indians, I have two friends from U.S. Marines and 3 from USAF. Knowing where my origin is from , I never was a victim of any racist comment not even jokingly.

My reasons to visit PDF is to get to know details of news and discussions about my country and related items in a way news websites don't. The bad image and hatred we see here is due to a few war mongers whose aim is to come here rant get banned make another account and repeat. Not everyone has as much free time as them.

Hi,

Absolutely---no doubts about that---u s millitary personal are the most decent / respectable people that you can ever come across---.

.
Never ever faced any issue at any airport so far. Did get pulled aside for secondary check a couple of times, but that's ok since I see a bunch of white guys going thru the same.. Unfortunately, world we live in and I blame the irrationality of suicide bombers more than the paranoia

No sure if being sarcastic or honest....

Either ways stereotyping, for those that usually do, is bad always a bad judgement call that can some day creep up and bite back in the a$$ pretty hard.

To self : Way to necro a 2 yr old thread

I've been travelling all over Europe with a Green Passport and have never faced a single problem, heck never ever been asked a single question nor have i ever been looked at suspeciously. I read and heard people having the name "Muhammad" are considered suspecious, well my name also starts with Muhammad and is written on all my documents and that has never caused me any problems. Such articles are better ignored.

Had a similar experience when flying from HKG- SIN with Jetstar.

They didn't let me board the plane because I didn't had a visa......even after telling the lady on the check in counter that I'll get VoA she just refused.

Had to cancel my week long trip and took a flight to DEL the same day :

Hmmm...

I have a green passport saying Pakistan on it...I have been to Singapore and Thailand with it and by far I find Singaporeans over the board with their rubbish....esp after 9/11 for a couple of months they stopped issuing visa to Pakistani passport holders that alone speaks heaps about paranoia...I mean talk about all that crap, Irish people and Russians were well known in that field before 9/11 and they dont face anything back then nor today...So Singapore in my opinion is basically racist...

I have been all over Europe without a problem, been to UK though I was pulled out but that was because I had too many visa on me :ashamed: and that confused UKBA they dont know their own rules (I am serious on this bit)...Since I knew their rules better than them they listened to me did a recheck and said yea I am right....then told me I am too honest that is why I was pulled aside...weird people!

As for Thailand...well, they are very tolerant when it comes to their airport...however I dont find Suvarnabhumi airport the least bit attractive then again I last went there some 4 yrs back....and it was grey "considerably new"....and some gora met us (me and my dad) and he actually started bitching about the airport saying they had finished the budget and hence the airport was unpainted and management had reduced significantly....that was 4yrs ago...not sure how it looks now...it is kinda huge!
