They got the wrong jet burning in the background
what you expect, actual SU30 footage in the background?

background is not where man in uniform and anyone referring to, just a background......listen to the talk.

people have problems with everything, how Pak Govt run Pakistan, how PAF and its pilots operate etc.

Nothing or expected a crashed IAF MiG-21. A PAF pilot pointed that out regarding the jet that was incorrectly shown, as remember this is a video not just for Pakistani audience but for the rest of the world too.

Not all JF-17s are getting AESA. Only Block 3's for now.

Depending on how Block 3 turns out in terms of combat effectiveness, we may acquire upto 100 Block IIIs.

So no block 4 and neither an AESA MLU for earlier blocks? Both would be very disappointing.

when block 4 will reach in production , my rough estimate is 2025-2028 it will become obsolete

I doubt PAF has funds to MLU 100 b1-2 thunders..it would rather squeez more jf17s instead of MLUs..considering some of b1-2 will be at the end of their stuture life by 2030-35.
It all comes down to money..we dont see/expect it improving any time soon
First it was throughly destroyed and now you have a global financial crisis that drawfs the 2008-2010 crisis(which PPPP did a decent job navigating)

“If” there is a block 4 your time line is right. And it won’t be obsolete not even obsolescent given what it will be facing and what most of the world AF inventory will be made up of.

Say a 6-8mil ballpark for a single package leads us To 600-800mil for a fleet of 100 advanced AESA equipped planes along with upgraded EW, etc. I think it seems to be worth it. As for structural life, I believe it can be extended.

USA felt building new f16s was cheaper at time when the assembly was at full rate ratherthan doing an extensive retrofir.
Than even your legacy fighters will be relevant..
So getting 6-8 additional fighters might be better than upgrading all the fleet..but really depends what PAF manufacturing capacity will be..
The reason why indeginous capacity is important as the money spent goes back into economy ..

So if india spent billions in LCA it supported its scientists and provided jobs..even deals like rafale will have huge offset

That is just looped footage of Indian jets burning on the ground running in the background studio monitors and is not an accompaniment to the actual discussion at that moment. That much is obvious but obviously not... hmmmm

Doubtful it was cheaper to MLU but their priorities and financial capabilities were different. Job creation, later block airframe, etc. In the end MLU while a great upgrade is just that and not a full equivalent of the new block.

look bro Project AZM is on the horizon Block-3 needs lots of $$$ to open up production line and you proposed block-2 upgrades needs to upgrade its its production line for new AESA avionics and EW stuff these takes lots of $$$ that we currently lacks, and look at the future of IAF they are looking another medium weight jet as well as navy Which will be Mig-35/JAS-39NG/F-16 70/72 and for IN they are looking for F/A-18 EF or F-35 or RAFALE-M and tell me if we will make Block-4 where it will be stand against these top notch jets, it is more wise to divert our money into Project AZM that will able counter these emerging threats from our enemy

If we are over optimistic then first AZM “prototype”’s “first flight” is a good decade away.

Then you will have a couple of years (at least) of verifications. Then initial batch production and low rate production.

Induction in significant number not before 2035+1-2 year in “best case scenario”. That’s 15 to 18 years if everything goes right.

My main concern is that your proposed Block-2 upgrades and block-4 will stand against super sukhoi upgrade/ Mig-29 upgrade/latest Mirage-2000 and upcoming threats from the enemy, JF-17 is not jack of all trades or can't face these emerging threats from the enemy but PAF needs stop gap jets ASAP to replace our mirages and the best option will be either J-10C or Mig-35, than Project AZM will comes into play
