They have taken a lot of hit here in Pakistan and internationally too, so now their strategy is to use the local groups in propagating their agenda. they provide the money and brains, while manpower is provided by TTP kind of organizations.

Beyond the local TTP groups, the Uzbek and Arab terrorists are irrefutable proof of the Al Qaeda-TTP nexus.

All the TTP/Al Qaeda serpents in the cesspool must be wiped out - the locals, the arabs and the uzbeks.

I will disagree with the doctrine of Ayesha Siddiqa, as those are completely different theaters. Marching into Iraq and Afghanistan were made easy due to complete Air superiority. Now as far as the beginning of the war is concerned the insurgents had/have all the support from the local population.

This is not the case in Pakistan, yes there is some support but not on the same level and is becoming less everyday. It has become very difficult with such little waters to swim that swiftly but the biggest concern is the breeding ponds next door. The role of the army should be limited to the operation and it is the people of the adjoining areas who will prove to be the deciding factor.

PM says, no time frame for conclusion of Waziristan operation

MULTAN, Nov 15 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Sunday that no time frame can be given for conclusion of operation in South Waziristan, however, added that it will conclude successfully well before expectations of the nation.

Talking to newsmen at Multan airport before his departure for the federal capital, PM said that no operation was being conducted in Balochistan.

To a question, PM said that country’s nuclear assets were in safe hands. He said that armed forces were performing their professional duties with responsibility.

Responding to another question, PM Gilani said that Pakistan would be taken into confidence on any change in US Afghan policy.

PM added that he had asked the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during her last visit to Pakistan that US should consult Pakistan if it wants to make any change in its Afghan policy.

5 more terrorists killed in Rah-e-Nijat

ISLAMABAD, Nov 15 (APP): At least five more terrorists were killed in the on-going operation Rah-e-Nijat in South Waziristan since Saturday evening.According to an ISPR press release here on Sunday, the security forces have been consolidated their positions in different parts of the area under operation besides making advances in other parts.On Jandola - Sararogha Axis the security forces conducted search operation at Ahmed Wam and cleared Shahvzai, Khaznikai, Udin Sar, during clearance operation, exchange of fire took place with terrorists, resultantly 5 terrorists were killed.

On Shakai - Kaniguram Axis the security forces conducted search operation around Tiarza and recovered cache of arms and ammunition.

On Razmak - Makeen Axis, the security forces established check post at Shah Wali Alghad.

Route to Laddah Bridge has been cleared from all obstacles; during the process of route scanning 4 IEDs were neutralized. Security forces also recovered large quantity of arms and ammunition.

Security forces completed concentration around Tauda China and searched 25 houses in village at Kam Narakai during the process 3 IED were also diffused.

Terrorists fired few rockets from southern direction of village of Wouchaba which was effectively responded.

In Swat - Malakand where Operation Rah-e-Rast is continuing, the security forces conducted search operation at Karakar Banda, Ilam Saand, Ashar Banr, Gari Shamozai and killed 12 terrorists, while apprehended 2 suspects at Shalpin.

Seven terrorists voluntarily surrendered to security forces at Charbagh, Roria, Zara Khela.

So far, 11,533 Cash Cards have issued to displaced families of Waziristan.

Orakzai is one of the agencies some of the SW TTP is suspected to have escaped to, and it appears the military is escalating there:

KALAYA/TANK/PESHAWAR: Eighteen militants were killed as fighter jets targeted their hideouts in the Orakzai Agency, while five more insurgents were killed in the ongoing operation Rah-e-Nijat in the South Waziristan Agency (SWA) on Sunday.

Official sources said the fighter jets targeted 11 positions of the militants in Mamozai, Dabori, Khadezai, Mazidghari and Ghiljo areas of the Orakzai Agency twice in the day. In the bombardment, 18 militants were reportedly killed on the spot while 10 others sustained injuries. The sources said the tribesmen in the agency were moving to safer places as security forces had intensified attacks against the militants.

These "analysts" do this so that if by any chance they turn out to be accurate (God forbid), they can bank on it. If they turn out to be inaccurate (95% of the time), they are not held accountable by anyone and can move to their next fake prediction.

No doubt this will be a very long war for us, with many setbacks and shocking things yet to come. But there are 160 mil Pakistanis lined up to drag these talib cavemen in the streets of every city.

No mechanized division is based in Swat, just a couple of mechanized units with limited assets had been sent.

Well if 7th Div is based in Mardan, how come I have to daily pass infront of the 7th Div - Golden Arrows HQ in Peshawar

And in SW operation atleast 2 divisions are employed, brought from somewhere else.

Westerners reporting by sitting in west can be expected to have glitches, same when they print rubbish facts about Pakistan having no link to reality.

Waziristan operation going on successfully: FM

MULTAN, Nov 16 (APP): Foreign minister Mukhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Monday that the South Wazirastan operation was going on successfully and achieving its objectives. Talking to mediapersons at the local airport, he said, “The army is getting successes beyond our expectations and the objectives set by Pak army leadership are being achieved successfully.”

He said people of the area have united against the foreign militants and extending cooperation to the army. Lauding the courage of the people of NWFP, he said they were fully united against terrorists who were committing dastardly acts of killing innocent people including women and kids.

Mr. Qureshi said other countries acknowledged the valiant role of the army and its successes in fighting terrorism.

To a question about do more demand he said, “ We have our own priorities and are moving forward in line with these priorities.”
He said Pakistan was a sovereign state and did not take dictation from others.

To a question about drone attacks, he said,”Talks with US administration on transfer of drone technology to Pakistan are in progress and we have expressed our concerns to the US administration.”

About resumption of talks with India, he said majority of thinkers and educated people in India were of the view that solution of various problem lie in resumption of talks with Pakistan while Indian premier’s statement during his recent tour of Occupied Kashmir was also positive.

About water issue, he said Pakistan wanted to settle it bilaterally. If it was not resolved in this way then it would be raised at international level in line with Indus Basin Treaty, he added.

To a question about deployment of more US troops in Afghanistan, he said Pakistan would convey to US secretary of state Hillary Clinton that there should be coordination between the two sides in this regard so that a military surge in Afghanistan had no effect on Pakistan.

He said the international community acknowledged that Pakistan’s cooperation was necessary for the promotion of peace in the region.
Regarding Indian objections over Gilgit-Baltistan elections, the foreign minister said, “Gilgit-Baltistan is our part and we have empowered local people.”

Security forces consolidating positions

ISLAMABAD, Nov 16 (APP) Security forces are consolidating their positions on all three axis in South Waziristan in operation Rah-e-Nijat. According to ISPR press release, security forces advancing further have secured important heights south and west of village Janata on Jandola -Sararogha Axis. Sanitization of Khazhikai and Adira Meal is under process.

On Shakai - Kaniguram Axis, terrorists fired 4 rockets and small arms fire at Lundai Nur and point 6954 near Kaniguram which was effectively responded.

Security forces cleared road Ladha to Takrai Sar and conducted search operation at Tikrai Sar, Totai Langar Khel and Sultano.
Training centre near Tikarai Sar, a complex of basement and a tunnel at village Sultano were found and destroyed.

On Razmak- Makeen Axis, security forces conducted search operation and cleared village Spina Mela near Razmak. Adjacent heights have also been occupied and visual contact with forces at Ladha near Spina Mela was established.

Village Kum Narakai near Makeen has been cleared and house to house search is in progress. During clearance operation 8 IEDs were defused and large quantity of arms and ammunitions recovered. Consolidation around Ghariom and Dossali is under way.

Meanwhile, Security forces conducted search operation in Roria near Gulibagh and during encounter 4 terrorists were killed in Malakand during operation Rah-e-Rast.

Security forces conducted search operation at Tiligram and Dargai and apprehended 4 suspects.

As many as 11,794 Cash Cards have issued to displaced families of Waziristan.

In next phase ,PA should construct road for servalliance at boarder , which will be most difficult task but no other option to control insurgency from Afghanistan side.
US and NATO should help us it will be in benefit for them also.

We are also losing more than billion rupees per year due to smuggling between FATA and Afghanistan.

like i said, these people have no nationality. They were shunned in their own countries. And they are shunned here.

Why do reporters have to take the word of a minister rather than traveling to S.W. and seeing for themselves? It's not like they need a passport, right?
