I don't rewrite history and have a distaste for those who attempt to. I would have classed Iran above/ equal to Brits (there is a reason Oman maintains Iranian interests in the UK). About 25% of the forces supporting the Sultan were Iranian.
My post was in regards to GCC's use of Pakistani "advisers".
It's not like Oman didn't get ~$1+ Billion and rights to continue to recruit Baloch to it's Military.
The Omanis and Brits did most of the fighting. Iran's Shah indeed played a big role hence why I mentioned them. You know it was a communist uprising after all and since the Iranian Shah was the biggest supporter of the West in the region (or biggest puppet - depends on what you prefer) and Oman being nearby and Iran having their own communist/socialist population (not a small minority), he acted. Ok, then Oman 1. UK 2. and Iran 3. The rest played a more secondary role.
Just out of pure curiosity, how many "advisers" from Pakistan is Oman using? I don't know, which is why I am asking.
Oman used Baloch soldiers/mercenaries before the existence of Pakistan. Similar to how they used non-Omani Arab soldiers as mercenaries. Similar to how the Nizam of Hyderabad used Yemeni soldiers and Turkic/Afghan ones. It was due to fears of being overthrown by a strong local army and thus local challengers to the throne.
Anyway you made it sound like it was a one-way street. All I reacted too. If I was wrong, we might not disagree at all.
GCC is welcome to throw out Pakistanis. But they should also throw out the bullsh!t about something called the "Muslim Ummah".
Why should such a thing occur? As for the "Muslim Ummah", why do you think that this is a "patent" made in Oman or made in GCC? Has Pakistan not used the same "Ummah card" countless of times? Was the foundation of Pakistan not based on religion first and foremost? You lost me there. I think the current flag-bearer since 1979 has been Iran btw. At least they pride themselves on that. I for once don't think nation states can play such a role due to obvious reasons.

The descendants of servant tribes and slaves are victims of widespread discrimination.[28] Omanis of slave origin are sometimes referred to as "khaddam" (servant) and some are subservient to previous masters, despite legal emancipation.[25] Oman was the one of the last nations on earth to abolish slavery in 1970.[29]
It is believed that migrant workers in Oman are treated better than in other Arab states of the Persian Gulf.[29] The plight of domestic workers in Oman is a taboo subject.[30][29] Every 6 days, an Indian migrant in Oman commits suicide.[31][32] There has been a campaign urging authorities to check the migrant suicide rate.[33]
Ok. Those statistics, how reliable are they and how old are they? Do they differ from any other country of the world? Or from Pakistani/South Asian statistics? Is there a statistic about suicide rates among those 2.5 million modern-day slaves in Pakistan itself for example? Wiki is not much of a source BTW. Everyone, depending on his bias, can use biased sources to present a narrative. I will believe it if I see the Omani government publishing such numbers. Never heard about this before. Oman in general has a very good track record. This is well-known.
@ali_raza @My-Analogous might know more, don't know.
