Oman Defence Secretary, senior military officers visit Kashmir HQ of Indian Army

DEFENCE DELEGATION FROM SULTANATE OF OMAN BRIEFED BY ARMY IN JAMMU AND KASHMIR

A delegation from Sultanate of Oman visited Northern Command on 19 April 2017. The delegation was led by HE Mohamed Bin Nasser AI Rasby, Secretary General of Defence and comprised of eight other senior officials from the Royal Oman Defence Forces. The delegation visited Kashmir Valley and interacted with Army officials at Srinagar and were later briefed by Army officials at Headquarters Northern Command, Udhampur. Matters of mutual interest, including externally sponsored terrorism in J&K and efforts to defeat this proxy war were discussed. The delegation expressed desire to further enhance defence cooperation between both countries especially after the recently conducted joint training exercise 'Ex AL NAGAH'. This important event was conducted at Bakloh (HP) from 06 to 19 March 2017 to share expertise, evolve jointness and interoperability in counter terrorism operations.

Oman is a good partner of India in the region,they buy our Ordnance factory produced ammo and there are many joint chemical factories and refineries.The Indian Navy has berthing rights in Oman, and has been utilising Oman's ports as bases for conducting anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden.And probably the first friendly country towards us in the Gulf.
And 4-5 lakh Indians work in Oman
