China agrees to host Indian Northern Army Commander ahead of PM Modi's visit

You cant equate a monarchy with a Spiritual Leader.
Dalai Lama was a Buddhist leader that dont have any power ambition.
And India always welcomed persecuted people. We did the samething when those Persians asked for an asylum.Lama came.hereas a refugee for a protection and we gave them that .
You cant compare our ancient culture with a 300 yearsaged USA .
See this, exactly what I'm talking about. If that's what you think, that's what you think. I'll get over it.

Allow him to live there sure, anyone can do that, but the US didn't let the Shah create a mini Iran in US. What India is doing is a direct challenge to China's sovereignty, however miniscule it is, isn't really the point.

Dalai Lama is the leader of a theocracy, he is a monarch, he was the absolute ruler of Tibet. In every sense he is far more powerful than even the Shah, in terms of his power in his own little backwater.

He doesn't have any ambitions? Maybe he did realize the vast power China now commands, but to suggest he didn't want a return to power, is a misrepresentation of the facts. Why did you think he ran away in the first place.

The Lama is about as persecuted as the Shah ever was. They BOTH tortured people, I mean just watch any documentary on Tibet before we came and see the truth. He's a criminal. Though part of what makes him a criminal is because he lost.

@Genesis by all due respect you to do not know the inner workings of the CCP, you might have a idea but you do not know for sure and anyone who says they do I would highly doubt their word.

Do you know EXACTLY how the Ghandi boy came to power in his own party? What his mother had to promise and do?

You don't need to know, same is true in China. There are limits based on realities. We are never going to know exactly what goes on in any party, can you honestly say you know the inner workings of BJP?

I don't really like convincing people on things they already made up their minds on, but just ask yourself, while every dictatorship ran their country to the ground and even real democracies, why is China thriving? Real constraints are far more effective than a few words on a paper.

There were more remarkable freedom fighters other than Gandhi such as Bose and Patel, The BJP is more transparent for one we are a democracy where the mass vote of the people counts and matters.

Why we can not remove the slums in Mumbai? because those poor people also have power in their votes sad but true. Our system is not perfect and yes we need land reform like you where the state holds all the land but India is India.

Well we cant believe that.Because Buddhism is a refined form of Hinduism. There is no violence in Buddhism.
You cant rely on some documentary for targeting a Buddhist

I just wish India and China can work together for a better future for the citizens of both countries. Agreed that some tensions are there, and both being big countries, some competitive tendencies are going to be there. But it would be sensible if trade and commerce take the front court and not these contentious issues. Let's hope for the best.

Dalai Lama is as much a Buddhist as the Pope is just a Christian. They are politicians. I can't believe I have to convince you, this isn't a secret, everybody knows. Even the Lama himself doesn't deny it, he doesn't advertise it, but he doesn't deny it.

By Gandhi, I mean Rauhl. What did his mother do to secure him that post.

We are talking over each other, by what do you know about BJP, I mean how did Modi become leader of BJP, how did he appoint his ministers? His funding, his supporters? What about the scandals of yestaryears that came out, and why they did? What about Rafale deal, why did it change, what's the REAL reason.

If you want to question these things, you can always do it, that's not fun for me.

What I'm simply saying is if I were to look at India as a nation and see past examples, and combine them with current realities I don't think wow, India is 2 seconds away from going full theocracy.

That's why knowing how CCP functions isn't so interesting to you and I, unless you actually like that kind of stuff, as much as what can the CCP realistically do and what can the PLA realistically do. If the answer you come away with is PLA can command its own destiny than so be it.

No that is not my conclusion but I find it strange that when Xi who was on a 'state visit' to India if you say the end decision lies with him then he must have directed the PLA to cross over the LOC and cause mischief, for what? why that particular timing? is it not bad timing or judgement?

I just think there is more to it but we do not know the full picture.
