Nomination of DG ISI is my authority: PM Imran Khan says in cabinet meeting today

. .
Sure the DG ISI appointment is a critically important role, but people ought to know that the DG is in large measure a figure head and has a less of an impact on this institution than people think. ISI has a significant institutional inertia that most DGs do not mess with. More work and decisions are made at a single star level and below than at a 2 star or a 3 star level. As you go higher up in the chain less decisions are made. Infact in many instances depending on who the DG is, some programs and efforts are just not opened up for being read into. The institution just waits for their time to let the DG's time run out. Then a new DG comes in and the institution at that point feels the new DG is more trustworthy, and can open up a bit more, BUT NEVER fully. This level of limited information sharing and compartmentalization is essential in maintaining the professionalism of this institution and the national security of the country. So I realize everyone seems to have their feelings in a bunch with these DG appointments, but I wil always maintain that the one star or col level who becomes a lifer in the institution has far greater sway than some of the bigger wigs. And the good DGs dont probe too much into the workings and allow a high level of independence to exist. The dumb ones that get all operational soon find themselves sidelined by the institutional inertia. It's a beautiful thing.

Also Lt Gen needs to be corps commander for minimum of 6 months before he can be considered for post of army chief. There are still more than 13 months left to make new army chief in case if Faiz Hamid needs to become chief.
No. That’s an Army practice, **not** the law. The constitution gives the President and the Federal Government absolute power to appoint whomsoever they want as Army Chief.

See Article 243
The President shall, on advice of the Prime Minister, appoint-
(a)the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee;
(b)the Chief of the Army Staff;
(c)the Chief of the Naval Staff; and
(d)the Chief of the Air Staff,
and shall also determine their salaries and allowances.
Yeah, and the same PM office cannot appoint a supreme Court or High Court judge, neither can he dismiss them.
PM office is is lame.
Judges have absolute security of office. Military officers serve at the pleasure of the Supreme Commander.

How many "Supreme Commanders" have completed their tenure in elected office to date in Pakistan? It may be the other way around.
President of Pakistan is the Supreme Commander of armed forces not PM of Pakistan

Aik Brahman NY kaha hy December tak Faiz rhna chahiay warna tum bay Faizy ho jao gy, that's the problem,
Agar ye brahman bushra bibi hain to wo bibi khud military ki informer hai, PM sb per nazar rakhne k liye. Khair.

Mismanaged by GHQ which is surprising.
IK would have signed nomination papers so a consultation should had been made with PM and then DG ISI name should had been signed and then announced.
It is quiet surprising that GHQ will do this mistake. Management 101 is lacking.
!!!Avoidable controversy!!!!
