What's new

Nepal bans almost all Indian cable news channels for spreading fake news and propaganda

Yeah, that's obvious. So much for mutual respect from a Bangladeshi I guess.

You're getting all worked up on nothing, calm down buddy, it's poem and it's underlying meaning doesn't have anything to do with you or your people not the ones here and now anyway.

It couldn't think of anything else at that point and it slipped by mind that you were Marathi.

If I want to offend someone, I will do so directly I do not mince words or use wordplay for veiled insults.

I've already apologized for any offence caused, move on, live a little.

.
Don't get angry. It's long past. My 'dak-nam' (among my father's people) is Tilak; no hard feelings for the Marathas any more.
I'm not talking about you but the Bangladeshi who fantasizes grandiose plans of ghuspetia and all.

.
I really find it amazing that from all the wonderful literature from Bengal, you found this poem to showcase Bengali literature pride. @Joe Shearer can maybe provide a better view of Bengali literature.

There is actually a wealth of ethnography concealed in Bengali children's rhymes. For instance, the driving out of the native Bengali/eastern soldiery is recorded in 'Aga dom, bagha dom, ghora dom shaaje...' The doms were not the outcast helots that they are today, they were the yeomanry that went for soldiering.

I'm not talking about you but the Bangladeshi who fantasizes grandiose plans of ghuspetia and all.

I swear to you, it was a joke. A joke on ourselves, being called all sorts of names by people. Pole-vaulters, for example. Not nice.

Please take it easy. This little rhyme is getting undue attention.

.
LOL...Bengalis and Marathis fighting each other. Why I am enjoying it so much? Maybe because I am on ISI payroll to sow divisions...oops.

OK, I just signed a code and that stands intact. No more racist generalizations is my commitment.

So dom are basically farmers who went for fighting, right? And what's Aga, bagha, ghora, etc?

I have seen this rhyme cropping up unnecessarily a lot of times that's why. Anyway, let's close that topic.

Leave it dada, the poem is supposed to make my blood boil but it doesn't, I don't get why he takes offence at history.

Are we are revisionists now ?

Bangladeshis can be dehumanised on India TV all day long, don't hear a peep then from these people.

I'm done here, I take offence at being perceived as something that I'm not.

Snowflakes are for winter. If we all held gripes over history, we Bangladeshis shouldn't be on a Pakistani forum to begin with.

Types of soldier; the 'aga' were the skirmishers, the light infantry that ran ahead and irritated the enemy; the 'bagha' were the heavy infantry that bore the brunt of the fighting; the 'ghora' were the riders, the cavalry. The rhyme says they all formed up to march, to parade.

Psst: I've used it on him before! That's why he's mad; it's being repeated again and again.

I just find it unusual to be a part of some completely different conversation. Anyway, I'm not taking any offence as such but just finding the turn of this polite conversation into something else uncalled for.

There can be no polite conversation with 'The Bangladeshi'.

I could smell the stench of deep-seated prejudice in your statement from a mile away.

I'm done here, please do not quote me.

Have a good one.

So should I call you Bengali instead of Bangladeshi? I hope you know that we have Bengalis in India as well and it necessary to segment you that way so that Indian Bengalis don't take offence.

Anyway, even I'm done.

You should also take it easy. There is generally no prejudice against Bangladeshis amongst Indian people, only the TV news channels are hyping it up. But there's not much that comes out of it.

Most of the Indian rabble's anger and enmity is reserved for the Pakistanis...nowadays, the Chinese.

You both need to shake hands and call it even. I confess I was trying to enjoy the spectacle. Chill and have a beer each both of you.

I've been around Indians my whole life mate, apart from a few most have some negative pre convinced notion about Bangladesh. Usually something to do with us being poor.

I can read and write Hindi, I have seen the comments section on YouTube.

It's not anger, it's called contempt.

Now I don't mind that, because I don't care what people think but it's becomes an issue when I'm blamed for causing 'offence' when such wasn't my intention and a deliberately provocative statement was made even after I apologized, something I shouldn't have done.

Anyway, those who speak ill will quieten down in a few years time, come next decade, we will hopefully have left India far behind in terms of human development.

I'll do what my people always do, move on and let our actions speak.

I am sorry you feel that way. I work with Bangladeshis here in Singapore, and I can assure you we share lunch together, and have a blast generally. So, it's not always true.

Some Indians are very much persuaded by the crap they see on television which is very poisonous.

Don't judge Indians by the YouTube comments but based on the people you meet and hang out with.

Having said this, there are a lot of idiots in India of every variety. It's your bad luck if you run into one of them.

And this particular guy is a bit of a clown. I am able to get a rise out of him very often. I spent most of my time in India in Mumbai. Lots of Marathis, a great people although all hell breaks loose if you insult Shivaji. Otherwise they just want to enjoy a peaceful drink, and sleep between 1 to 4 PM. Great people!

But this example is extreme.

I only have my guard down when I'm dealing with Goans or West Bengalis.

I went to school with Indians, I know you guys in and out :)

This is why I don't open my posts with a round of profanity and abuse like 80% of PDF posts about India.
