Please keep in mind the possibility that NS will be blamed for the failure of this project, for Thar coal is a mirage. That is the basic problem I have, not that who might take credit for it, but that there is only blame here in the long run.

The PM-elect should seek better advice than to rush into Thar coal headlong. That is all.

I agree with you that gasifying coal underground as Dr. Samar is saying is not going to work, but I also fear that mining the coal and burning in for thermal power generation is not feasible as well, given the nature of the deposits and their poor energy content.

I ain't no expert, but I do think that we can produce a healthy amount of electricity from it, and if Dr Samar is pursuing this coal gasification thing, there must be some logic to it, he isn't stupid you know!

Creating an open cast mine large enough to dig up the coal is simply not financially viable given the associated costs compared to the cost of alternates such as imported coal.
