Nawaz Sharif takes ride on Beijing Subway

BEIJING: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Thursday morning took a ride on Beijing subway system and enquired about its operation and facilities.

The Prime Minister before travelling in metro train went to the operation room, where he was briefed about the subway system of the capital city.

While traveling in the train, the Prime Minister was briefed about the cost of the project, the number of people benefitting from it and the quality of service available.

He was also informed about the subsidy the government is providing to the travelling commuters.

The Prime Minister was informed that on average 40,000 people ride in the subway in one hour. He was told that the Beijing’s subway length has risen from 114 km in 2007 to 456 km. By 2015, the number of subway lines in Beijing will reach 19, with a combined length of 561 km. By 2020, the total subway length is expected to have increased to 1,000 km.

Talking to newsmen, he said that his government is committed to provide low-cost comfortable journey to the masses.

“I was impressed with the underground railway system”, said the Prime Minister adding we want to have such facilities for people of Pakistan as well.

Chief Ministers of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Ambassador Masood Khalid, senior officials from China and Pakistan also travelled in Metro. (PPI)

hmmm 5 years, eh? Morsi did not last that long, and it's quite incredible that the situation in Egypt is not as bad as Baaa-K-istan, but the Egyptians just could not put up with the kinds of things that Pakistanis are now used to and seek to accept

I wish Pakistanis were like Egyptians and take out zardari in his initial years, his performance was alot worse than morsi or anyother guy in Pakistans history. There is no sense in Pakistanis, they are ghulams of thesr fuedals.
