Navy to buy seven submarines

I think french playing game with us and that is why they put on hold our JF17 deal so that they asked us to go for Merlin class sub along with JF17 package. now we should concentrate on two things.

1) We should go JF17 package along with Merlin(4 Nos.) with TOT
2) We should get german sub (3 Nos) with TOT
3) We should go nuclear sub with China with TOT

Merlin we can get from 2015
U214 we get in 2012
Nuclear we can get in 2020

so be smart and take all option so we can not relay in one country:pakistan:

Its just amazing the delays in deliveries of the Submarines to Pakistan

Right now we should have recieved German Subs by 2013-2014 if it was approved as schedualed

Getting mere 2-3 subs in 2020 is not ideal , we need to fill out gaps in our navy by 2014-2015 ideally

The annoucement of getting 7 subs is wonderful but untill we ink the deal its still too early

The next submarine to be inducted in PN should have the capability to vertically launch Cruise and Ballistic missiles. Like sister services, PN should also have a strategic command with nuclear weapons. It would provide a credible second strike capability. Such a capability demands a "nuclear-powered submarine armed with nuclear weapons" and robust communication system from land-based HQ to the submerged and hidden submarine in the ocean. Ocean-bed mapping and surveying of Indian Ocean may also be required to facilitate the underwater navigation and "hibernation" of SSBNs.

Naval nuclear weapons also include nuclear torpedoes and nuclear depth charges in addition to nuclear-tipped ballistic and cruise missiles.

As compared to India, Pakistan does not have a long coast therefore a fleet of 6-7 conventional submarines seems almost enough. Pakistan needs to strengthen its nuclear deterrence by acquiring "boomers" or SSBNs. Due to the role given to a ballistic missile submarine, she should not visit its harbour frequently and should remain hidden in deep waters for long periods of time. This requirement normally demands nuclear propulsion.

Then for communication with submarine, the submarine itself should have floating antennae (or other type). Long-endurance aircraft(s) with special communication system needs to be devoted for comm with submerged submarine(s).

Nuclear power plant is not out of reach of Pakistan because its a steam turbine coupled to a nuclear reactor. Pakistan already has nuclear power plants like the one at Chashma. But they should be quite robust, reliable and compact for the submarine usage and this seems to be the main difficulty.

Its difficult to buy nuclear-powered submarines but we can launch a joint project with China and then lease the submarine for 15-20 years.

It would be interesting if someone can post the difference in submerged endurance of modern AIP subs and modern nuclear subs.

SSBN is a very high strategic asset, it's a off limit item.
Something that can never and I said never be sold.

You may see countries saling old Aircraft Carriers, but you will never see someone offering you SSBN. It's already very problematic to get your hands on Attack Nuclear subs, and as you can see, the Indians could only lease them, in this way they must return them back integral, without the possibility of reverse enginering.

So, this is why the Indians are struggling to build their first domestically SSBN.

Well ideally we need 16 subs force to counter the Indian Carrier fleet

######This is the fleet we need ####
Agosta 8 Local Production in Pakistan need to move on this ...
Merline 3
Juan 3
U214 3

While we are not getting other subs get the local production of Agosta on track lets make 5 Agosta between 2010-2016

Strategicall to go underwater and go behind enemy ships and appear behind enemy lines

The frigate force we have is great for defensive posture

F22P 4 + 4
Type 054 4
OHP 6 (2010-2015)
Corvetts 4

All these must help guard the coast lines

This is a balanced force for Pakistan Navy ...

If we can close down the German Deal & Subs deal it will make up for the delay in JF17 thunder avionics package deal

Really ... since our strategic foes are so close to us , we don't need nuclear subs we just need 68 days of operation is enough time to go any where along foe's border and launch any type of attack and be back on docks in Pakistan (If need be )

Ironical that all we can talk about is what to get and which is the best but can someone tell me why we got TOT for augosta class? To make 3 and sleep? should start ASAP with 3 more and start with DCN to make Marlin in home with Baracuda tech shared as must!

we have leased the akula class for 10 years with an option of buying it later on...and we dont use reverse engineering of any product...

for ur info.russians did helped us a lot in building our own nuclear submarine.:mps:

right said proud to be a pakistani more agosta and if goes merlin's way barcuda's technology is must and pakistan should get vertically launch capapble nuclear tipd cruise missiles for submarine

no neeed more french equipment seems like they are indian puppets german weapon subs are better 100 times than frens go for better

source on the option to buy the akula, the akula is a nuclear attack sub i dont think the russians would sell that outright.
