Stupid reply
I asked you what common threats are, and you started usual & unnecessary explanations.
China is raising power, ok so when China threaten NATO by its military development?
Its called hedging (read not containment). Nobody is sure how China would deal with the rest of the world in the coming future. Is it going to be a more assertive China looking for a Unipolar Asia or would it be a China content with a multi polar Asia (with China being the most important power)? Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia and US are partners in this sphere of influence and they are looking to expand there partnership.
Most idiotic reply over Pakistan, you have nothing to say but bashing & nonsense comments. Pakistan's missile program not for EU OR US but for India so you haven't any common threat so what the hell you people with blind eyes repeating that YES, YES YES GET IT. Have you any idea what you are talking?
Its one thing to be patriotic and its other thing to think it through logically. Pakistan is a failing if not a failed state with almost the 5th biggest nuclear arsenal in the world. The whole world is looking with awe what happens if you implode. What if some of your serviceman in the strategic command sympathize with terrorists? I know you don't feel it that way but if you try to put all the things together and connect the dots - you'll be forced to realize that Pakistan is every country's nightmare. Here is another article putting all the things together - The Sydney Morning Herald: A monster roaming the world I'd expect such articles from American or European press but I'm surprised that even Australians are writing about it.
Give you example which will calm down your love for Russia, India wanted to operate Ayni airbase in Tajikistan but Tajikistan refused to hand over it because of Russian pressure and now Russia comes to operate it alone and agreement already signed and deal is approved in recent visit of Russian president to Tajikistan.
Tajikistan is heavily dependent on remittances from Russia and reportedly Russia threatened them with restrictions on workers if they let India operate from there. They do share a very very strong bond and Russia has a lot of influence. There are only a few countries which allow foreign bases on its soil. There has been no decision on the base the and decision will be taken next year after a meeting of all these three players. Here is the link - Tajik airbase status could be decided next year: Report
Now return to topic, This move to offer missile defense shield is not simple but it will effect regional security and may be it will change all geopolitical and strategic situation, main hit will face SCO,
SCO is not a military bloc and won't be in the foreseeable future.
India can lose Russian support, India can face more problems from Chinese side and it can lose support of other countries including Iran with India planned many projects.
It can be one of the sour points of our relation with Russia as they might see us totally tilting towards west but I think we could talk it through. Yes our elations with China could deteriorate.
Pakistan also non NATO member but ally so if India will accept this offer then India will face more conflicts with Pakistan and more over WOT also could be effected, it’s important to note that Pakistan is main player of WOT in Afghanistan so it will direct effect on US/NATO relations with Pakistan.
I don't think you read sancho's reply carefully. The supply routes are probably required till 2014 after which US will have fewer troops in Afghanistan. The only thing they would need Pakistan to do is to fight terror at home - inside Pakistan. To which also, sancho highlights and says the raid to kill Osama and the killing of the no.2 by drone strike suggests that this too is getting less important as well.
Given your country's history, I wouldn't take the liberty to call India's decision cheap. We may very well reject all this. This will be most cheap decision by Indian government if they will accept this offer.
