Well, in such a case let's run a simulation model under "Kraitanian/Hypeorian" theory of pleasure:

1. If television wasn't invented, the population of the world right now would be roughly 11 Billion.
2. If Edison hadn't invented the light bulb, the population would be roughly 17 billion.
3. If Benjamin Franklin hadn't discovered electricity we would be touching 25 billion souls.

Ooopps... too much pleasure bad for the planets health! :D

Yes, it does. Without power, they can't watch TV. And there is only one form of entertainment in the dark. ;)
