What's new

NASR Opens New Chapter in India-Pakistan Arms Race.

One thing I do not understand..what is it that, this new missile brings to table..which Pakistan previously did not have?

Din't Pakistan previously

have a road mobile, solid propelled, nuclear capable missile which could hit over a distance of 60 Kms?

Only thing new here is that you have two missiles on the same truck.

how is it a path breaking success wrt cold start doctrine?

Guys, every missile has its own strategic importance regardless of its range or capability. As a matter of fact Pakistan does have missiles ranging from 100 to 3000(or more) km, so criticism over NASR's range is quite infantile. Obviously, how can a missile departs with nuclear warhead having just 60 km range!. There are many intelligent people around who know the strategic importance and actual aimed function of NASR, so ill informed people like me should better abstain.

BTW I dont find this thread helping people with their attitude..

The only sane and well justified reply to this thread..

Well that assumes, with great optimism, That the IBG will be able to make penetrations

If IBG does not make penetration (;)), then will Pakistan use a tactical nuke as a preemptive strike. Cant get stupider than that (not Pakistan but the assumption that it will)

It gives Pakistan a deterrent against heavy troop concentrations. A Corp marching towards you, got nothing to lose. Fire a tactical nuke. Minimizing civil casualties, break up the troop concentration. They aren't organized, they aren't a threat. Half a kiloton nuke warhead means it isn't highly enriched, which means you can deploy it even when your nuke stockpile is low. Plus radiation released can be contained easier than as compared with a full blown nuke.

How far again is Lahore from the border??

Actually it is a question..I am still waiting for some one to show the light.

Well, I think WIKILEAK will give you a better idea, in case if Cold Start is to be illuminated. I am sure you would be able to interpret NASR yourself wrt to Cold Start afterwards.

What makes you think its Indian troops in specific?

making nasr a tactical nuke means that PA want tn destroy the golden goose that lays it eggs called 'pakistan'.Will it go that far?

Ohh.. I have read that report long time back..about Pakistan developing Tactical nukes.

But it still does not answer my question.. ability launch Tactical nukes from the battlefield was achieved when Pakistan developed its first road mobile, solid propelled Battlefield range ballistic missile back in 1989..so what is so special about this missile such that..it has been developed specially with keeping cold start doctrine in mind?

Those other missiles you are talking about are for strategic purpose, not tactical. They are big, heavy and take more time to load as compared to NASR which can be operationalized within minutes. This is what this new missile brings to the table, mobility and speed. Except for Babur, Pakistan had nothing to target Indian Strike Corps on a tactical level. This missile addresses this shortage and makes any advance on Pakistan's territory very costly for India.

This is why this missile makes India's Cold Start Doctrine obsolete, because a low yield nuclear strike by this missile on advancing Indian Strike Corps will literally decimate them. Anyways, this missile is only going to be used as a last resort if Indian IBG's manage to destroy a huge chunk of Pakistan's Armour and there is nothing stopping them to march to Islamabad. Its always good to plan for the worse, i would say good job Pakistan Army for developing this missile.

I have a question!
what kind of terminal guidance system NASR is using

according to India NFU policy, once it is attacked by nuclear, weather on it soil or other, weather high yield or low,it will reciprocate disproportionately.

Now the question is why Pakistan just want to use its nukes on some battle groups when they know that much bigger will be coming from India back,so is it not better to target Indian cities than those units.

Now if that is the issue, will Pakistan use the nukes against Indian cities as like India assume it will be preposterousness of Pakistan to use nukes against such small level conflict.

In either case what is the strategic benefit, only answer this if u carefully understand this,I dont need booster doses of nationalism.
