NA bars Hindu lawmaker from presenting bill seeking ban on alcohol

That is the hypocrisy on part of Muslim legislators then. If a Non Muslim representative doesn't want it to be sold in his religion's name, it should be respected and the fault accepted.
That is what this guy was proposing and what the article is about!

Taxing Pakistanis would start when these so elected (ignorant) legislators present their true wealth to the state.
That is a true issue that is complex coz if they are hiding it then one needs to search it and that takes time and resources!

because latter is addictive in nature and instantly kill you in any form, it has adverse acute and chronic effects the former doesn't......The Lateral can be used by Organized crime groups to generate revenue, you can grow canabis at the back of your house, all it needs is a lamp and shade, try brewing a Beer in your back yard......
to be honest I am going to stop responding to you because your posts have nothing productive in them nor do they support your argument in anyway.....the point of having this forum is not to rant but to contribute and participate in the discussion
btw just to add, try chugging down a keg of beer and see what happens, the worst outcome will be you can choke on your vomit or slur speech, try stacking on ecstasy and your heart will beat out of that chest of yours in no time.....hence across the globe you have restrictions on one while the other is sold with no remorse.....heck all Sauds visit Bahrain on weekends only to enjoy a blissful eve.....

Note : i have never consumed alcohol in my life nor plan on doing so, it is just that I have a common sense

you didn't need to give any clarifications,
even if you consume in private, that's between you and ALLAH swt'.-- if in public, than this becomes the business of an Islamic State.

I know one and only thing, ALLAH swt' has declared liquor illegal and there's a punishment for consuming alcohol - FULL STOP

ISLAMABAD – A Hindu lawmaker was barred from tabling a constitutional amendment bill, seeking a ban on the sale of alcohol, in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

Pakistan Tehreek Insaf’s (PTI) Hindu MNA Dr Ramesh Kumar sought permission to present the bill, stating that alcohol consumption is prohibited in all religions, including Hinduism, Islam and Christianity. He called for cancelling the alcohol permits in the country.

The PTI and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal supported the bill but it was opposed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). The bill seeks an amendment to the Article 37 of the Constitution.

Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri, however, barred the minister from presenting the bill after the majority of lawmakers, who were present at that time, voted against it.

The MMA, in response to the deputy speaker’s order, protested and demanded voting on the bill again.

The opposition parties, including PML-N and PPP, staged a walk out in NA over not running the session according to the agenda.

The session of the lower house of the parliament was then adjourned till Wednesday.

Talking to media outside the assembly, Kumar called for introducing strict laws to ban sale of alcohol in the name of any religion.

Kumar said unfortunately a number of people had obtained the permits for alcohol business in the name of Hindu religion, which was unacceptable.

An expert is of the view that the PTI legislator could get approved the bill from the NA easily by ensuring the presence of the members of the his party and allies as the Imran Khan-led party is in the majority.

In 2014 when Kumra was also the MNA had said alcohol is strictly forbidden according to the teachings of the Shrimad Baghwat Piran – a Hindu holy book, while also emphasising that decision makers (MNAs) or other higher-ups in the community are prohibited to drink under any circumstances.

Sale, production, importation and transportation of alcoholic beverages in Pakistan occurred under the banner of minorities which is strongly offensive and insulting,” Dr Ramesh said.

This was a question from a hindu to the muslims, whether muslims really care about Islam, or all our care about religion is mare show off? And our answer shook very foundation of Pakistan.
Kia thapper mara hai hamary monh pe. Khob sabaq sikhadia, kam az kam mujhe.

Synthetic drugs are not life taking if they are properly produced and death related to ecstasy are either due to substandard chemicals and or actions under influence commonly being dehydration (alcohol has DUI deaths). Remember most of these drugs were accidental discoveries by major pharmaceuticals to treat medical conditions. It was later understood that people could have withdrawal problems. You may want to read up on micro-dosing as well. Yes you can die from chugging alcohol just google it. In fact when you pass out with excessive drinking the paramedic will pump you stomach. The restriction is because of its past history and mainly demand in-elasticity which makes it a good revenue generator. There are societal effects as well.

Quote inspired by that joker Fawad chaudhry?

Jis ne chori daketi karni hai so karni hai, so why make laws to stop such crimes.

It's not a quote inspired by someone, such prohibitions and bans do not stop people from doing what they want to do. While prohibition may have some benefits, it's disadvantages and drawbacks outweigh the advantages. These are simple things that You would understand and realize as you grow older ...

As for the claim That consumption of alcohol carries hudd punishment, just for your information, The Holy Qur'an does not prescribe any punishment for consumption of alcohol. Also, the word "Haram" is not used in the context of Alcohol in Qur'an. It's a sin, which like other sins, has to be avoided.

And that's why The Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan deciding the petition (Dr. Muhammad Aslam Khaki vs Federation of Pakistan Petition No.2/1 of 2006 ) declared whipping for the offense of drinking as un-Islamic and directed the government to amend the law to make the offense bailable.

That is why this piece of news is so sad that a Hindu had to raise the issue!
Hindu is doing it for brownie points.
The issue is as impossible to enforce as is a decent society in Pakistan.
The best solution is the Turk society where such evils are regulated and it is public(so everyone who drinks is in the open and those who dont are in the open), but for that the people have to be educated and humane; qualities that don’t exist in a majority in Pakistan.

Pakistan used to be a society where people would drink outside and then go home to pray.
Now it is a society where people pray outside and go home to drink.

Sure...Educating them then only can you regulate...

What is the solution before mass education becomes successful?

Neither is good but oh well!

At least it wasn’t hypocritical. A truthful society is a hundred fold better than a hypocrisy in the name of Islam.
Bans in the first Islamic state worked because the majority wanted it and weren’t hypocrites about it. Half those who say they want it will be drinking outside and consuming pork.

No Islamic society can exist or ever work today- be it the Saudis or Iranians(all vices hidden from public or confined to the elite)-where human rights are trashed under the guise of Islam.

If the society isn’t at peace.. at salamti.. then Islam does not exist and anything else is just people trying to play Allah.

.
and what about the other half? No one seems to care what they want and are maligned based on the other half :(

That is not Islamic!
A society cant be Islamic if it is uneducated! Westerners being educated have managed to replicate what Islamic should have meant!

That is true! But how to bring peace! ESP when stupidity is promoted and people allowed to fight over differences and form more differences over small crap instead of agreeing with the similarities!

When prophets failed to control dissent (a decent english read on the prophet’s life based on the earliests sources is Martin Lings) among their peoples and had to either force them or compromise, how does one expect to do so here?

The rulers of Islamic history lore are reviled for an “Islamic” society because their characters were clean and they adhered to the Shariat in the Quran.
It did not matter if xyz citizen then threw a private party or got drunk, it was their character that eventually turned people to good.

.
Banning Alcohol won't make a difference but create criminal bootleggers, those who can afford will still buy it and the poor who drink it will start drinking dangerous home made moonshines.

You can either educate the population and not remove "Islam" from syllabus (at least the similarities like basic manners which even civc education teaches in the 1st few yrs of education in West and Japan )....that way no one needs to rely on screaming molvi for basic guidance and can differentiate basic BS from Islam

OR

completely abolish religion then have every Tom Dick and Harry (molvis with personal vendetta or differences of opinion and wanting large fan base rather than speak the truth would alter what they know just to have people seek them repeatedly for "different advice") educating their versions and confusing the children like what happened in the case of ISIS (Descendants of immigrants to Europe- who didnt know their heritage tried to search for it and fell in the wrong hands)

Islam is for every era..The problem is the greed of man is also for every era!

It did not matter if xyz citizen then threw a private party or got drunk, it was their character that eventually turned people to good.
Yes people do follow what they see and like! That is why I suggest teaching basics at a young level! When children are capable of learning manners as most of the European and Japan do!

It is also the way of Islam to teach the child young and early!

Previously Islam was taught through families and then reinforced in early school. Now the parents themselves aren’t educated on religion or leave it to the Mullah, then not much can be said on why the current conditions exist.

I am all in favor of complete abolishing of Islam from every aspect of government and education, and taking it away from the people. Let blood run amok with ISIS and others to see where it all goes.

When people do not value the gift they have or abuse it, it needs to be taken from them.
