My short visit to Punjab...

What is your connection with Punjabis ? Have you ever met one ? Even i am not Punjabi but have grown up amongst many Punjabis here in Delhi . What is your experience with Indian Punjabis ?

well dancing and singing is not limited to indian punjabi people and same is true for drinking habit..drinking daroo has nothing to do with punjabi culture

non Punjabi also dance and sing..you should blame Bollywood who portray indian punjabi mostly sikhs like this in movies who start balley balley everywhere and act stupid and funny most of the time

Now this is your perception that dancing and doing Balley Balley is stupid . I don't know where it comes from , and yes Punjabis are funny , even the Pakistani ones , and that is a good thing.

Btw, don't try to learn everything about India from Bollywood . Movies exaggerate everything to get noticed and make an impact . True for all film industries.All ethncities in india have their stereotypes .

You misunderstood i meant they sing their kalam as if its part of their culture..why dont you bring hindu/muslim/sikh religion here..only sing kalam of those poet who are sikh or hindus because you are dividing Punjab on religious grounds

Ok..first of all those poetes were no part of Pakistan.They were par of Punjab.when they created the kalams they never said only Muslimpunjabis will sing their songs as their culture..becaue for them(an at that time)..Punjab as whole shared the same culture. I give credit thos Muslim poets of being creative..sufi aints had their bes time in that period and the best kalams came from them. As I have been debating with Raz Pak all this while that we still consider the culture to be same..and never take it religion wise. I am sure if you were a Punjabi eve from Pakistan..youwopuld have never objected Indian Punjabis singers representing the Muslim poets kalam as their own..because Punjabis (wether pakistai or Indian) know very well..that it was a common culture..nothing as sikhs or muslim. Moreover if you know ( i know you dont) sikhism came much later...before it there were only Muslims and Hindu in punjab...and the Muslim saint poets wre the ones who practiced poetry and sufism..thsu we still worship those sufi saints in our part of punjab.

Dude read properly i never said dancing is stupid . I said its Bollywood who generalized Indian Punjabi and show them acting stupid and dumb and make stupid jokes about sardar when we know such people belong to others ethnicity as well

Punjabi language..and when I ssay that..I mean punjabi language spoken all over pakistani punjab. Nice to find thse pakistani singers singing in raw punjabi style (lack of word here,dont have time ether)..but thats here in India too..you simply need to type India in place of Pakistan in youtube.

Ok now somethin g I really want you to understand..please do not judge our punjab by te youtube videos or movies..lol..and as far as commercialisation is concerned..yes thats happening cause all of India is booming Thus we have thousands of songs,food items being commercialised..but that doesnt mean they have changed..lol. you guys convince me that the period whne there was no internet and no yotuibe was better..as people wer willing to explore instead o flearning everything only thorugh google..

I am just clarifying certain things. I neither have any superiority or inferiority complex and i am very content within myself. did i said anything about India? i was responding to your stupid statement of islamization of Pakistani punjab and we lost raw essence of punjabi. You would have not said it if you ever visit in any village of Pakistani punjab

And you don't see how Sardars are shown as valiant , large hearted , happy, enterprising and generous people in Bollywood ?

Yes, being stupid is one negative stereotype of Sardars as well , but i wonder why you never noticed the other, positive stereotypes.

Punjabi are one the most honest and friendly people. Have many punjabi friends and have seen that in general they don't have any bad feelings for you in inside while smile in front. They are pretty straight forward and open minded.

well i am talking about perception you get after watching most Bollywood movies or reading jokes on internet..you are right sardar are shown as great lover, hero and brave guy who kill 100 guys with one pistol and lift truck with one hand when they act as hero and wear the uniform of Indian army

No in Pakistan it is Rajputs and other tribes. The thing about Jatts I dont understand is they worked the fields for the Rajputs and Nawabs. So why do they act like they are the ****?

first of all rajputs are from rajasthan not punjabis.there are some rajputs in our side of punjabs but they are not same level as jatts. all kings of punjab were jatts. jatts are landlords kings and the one who got power. rajputs are big in bihar up and rajasthan and pakistan. gujjars are classified as schedule casts here and they live whole life rearing cattles. janjuas are classified as other backward class.

Punjab's culture is very dominating. All of India and Pakistan have made it an influence on national level.

I don't know what Indians are trying to prove here. I'll say a couple of things. Our Punjabi has its different form, naturally adopting with Islam, while yours has taken shape from influence of Hinduism and Sikhism. At the very first, one should observe the different styles of greeting. Unlike Pakistani Punjabis, Indian counterparts touch feet of others and hold their hands together. A lot words are different and they indeed they come from religion. Like if we say Ma'sh'allah, Insh'allah, the Sikhs will say Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh”.
