For your first part: its not mandatory for validate through billing address they only do when they feel they have fraud orders and again that's depends on company and its not illegal.

I think your are correct on both points. Daraz does seem to have an extra step in their ordering where they 'verify' your order behind the scenes.
And, yes, at this price point--I mean, just look at what you can get DELIVERED for only $3.57 USD-not much to complain. If I recall correctly, I once had bought 4 taste-less apricots from an American store for $2!!

I also regularly use Daraz to 'Top Up' my mother's Pakistani cell phone. Pretty cheap compared with TelephonePakistan.com or Ding.com which I used to use. I fill in Rs. 500 every 7-10 days and Daraz doesn't charge any processing fee unlike those two other sites. Much cheaper. Sort of Cut the Middle Man Out! Sweet!!

I used my pakistani credit card to deliver a gift to my sister in UAE with same day (a few hours actually) delivery so CCs of other countries are not a problem.

About daraz. It is a mixed bag but improving.

Electronics are OK but clothing are a no go for now (at least for me)

Groceries I guess were started recently.

Over here in ISB I just bought anwar ratol for PKR 70/Kg from the market (although from a wholesaler type mart). Cherries (a month or so ago) were available for PKR 180/200 per 800/1000 gram box.

For formal shirts (if i were to use an online store) I sometimes use cotton and cotton or brisk (depending upon pricing). I used native core for leather goods (and I was gifted a decent wallet from hub wallets once so they are OK too).

E commerce is improving and with the acquisition of daraz by chinese along with easy paisa we are going to see signifincant changes in volume down the line.

Pakistani mangoes were allowed for a time into USA when plants to treat them to get rid of fruit flies were made operational with US help. However, the quality of service required to control the pests could not be maintained within Pakistan to FDA standards, hence a ban was re-instituted.

I am sure there are other countries which produce very good mangoes. Problem seems to be that mangoes come from so far away, taking time, maybe come in cold containers. Whatever.. I don't know. But they are hardly any charming to my palate when bought from grocery stores. And I KNOW real mangoes being raised in Pakistan. Haha.

Speaking more of mango ice creams--or lack them... I am married to a Southern family. They boast about 'home made ice creams' (peaches etc). So, knowing I was craving for mango ice cream, some years ago, they decided to churn some for me in their home. Half a day, sore backs, and some tired arm muscles later, the end result was a bland concoction with neither the consistency of an ice cream nor much the taste of mangoes. But I graciously accepted the generosity and praised them and the ice cream.

Every time I go to various grocery stores' ice cream windows I thoroughly study for any any mango ice cream entrants; sadly, nothing but the pricey H.D...

So I placed my first online order with Daraz.pk yesterday. Just a test run. Some fruits. The order was made yesterday, using my American credit card, and delivery already made in Karachi today. The total in Pakistani Rupees was Rs. 572, after free delivery/discounts. In case of USD, my card is showing $3.57. I know in terms of American dollars, this is very affordable. But is it too much for most Pakistanis? Daraz claims that its online prices can often beat the grocery stores' prices?

BTW, Khubani (Apricots) are very expensive in America.

The verdict from even my hard to please mother is now: 'The Langra mangoes are really delicious when you start eating them, even if they appear unripe.'

Basically you spent about 2% of average Pakistan salary on your order vs just 0.2% US salary. Huge difference if you ask me. Dont forget that in Pakistan minimum wage is Rs12k or something and Rs30k per month isnt norm either.

Minimum wage is almost 17000 in Pakistan.
