So I placed my first online order with Daraz.pk yesterday. Just a test run. Some fruits. The order was made yesterday, using my American credit card, and delivery already made in Karachi today. The total in Pakistani Rupees was Rs. 572, after free delivery/discounts. In case of USD, my card is showing $3.57. I know in terms of American dollars, this is very affordable. But is it too much for most Pakistanis? Daraz claims that its online prices can often beat the grocery stores' prices?

BTW, Khubani (Apricots) are very expensive in America.

I have no idea. Only know that the delivery was made a little bit ago. Will check back later.
Well...the pictures look so great of these fruits! If the quality is not good then Daraz will lose some business.
Thanks for the inputs.

Daraz rips people.

Go to a market yourself and you can find much better quality stuff at much cheaper rates.

Then again, for the middle class and poor, everything is expensive and for rich, everything appears economical.

I am planning to go to Karachi end of the year and will check things out. Thanks

Please let me know how the quality of the fruits was. You have inspired me to send mangoes to my family and extended families today but would like to know the quality before placing order.

Majority of Pakistanis earn around Rs30k per month. While in US at least $2k per month.

Basically you spent about 2% of average Pakistan salary on your order vs just 0.2% US salary. Huge difference if you ask me. Dont forget that in Pakistan minimum wage is Rs12k or something and Rs30k per month isnt norm either.

Will do!
Some things to note: The Shipping Address is understandably the address in Pakistan. But even the Billing Address is also entered the Pakistani address--no option for overseas address. However, during the Payment step, one can choose credit card (which could be American, for example) and then the order goes through. Didn't think credit card companies allow wrong billing address?
Anyway, hopefully this will add to Pakistan's foreign exchange some; Daraz offers from groceries to multi-million Rupees automobiles!! With the current exchange rates, these are some whopper deals to order for the families back home.

Ok Im the stage where we add shipping address, but my billing address has to be from Canada otherwise it won't go through. It would suck if it only can accept a Pak address.

You shouldn't have the issue. Make the Billing Address the same as the Shipping Address; you may have to pre-enter that. After that, as you proceed to pay, Daraz (and the credit card company!) doesn't seem to care the wrong billing address. Odd! Having once programmed E-Commerce sites, there are criteria to be matched before an order is allowed. For me at Daraz, I have my American credit card saved at Daraz and I only have to enter the 3 digit CCV.

LOL ok thanks.... I'm reading reviews and some folks have written bad reviews or posted pictures of mangoes being rotten or bad quality upon delivery.

This is what my screen looks like right now. All I have to do is to Proceed to Pay and then enter credit card info. Oh, the bad reviews. We shall see soon in my case.
BTW, 5 kilos of (hopefully) fresh tomatoes delivered for Rs. 354 (approx. $2 USD) is pretty good.
