it is toooooo wrong ! we have 1.8 million in the classic army , about 2 million in Sepah ,and 10-20 million at reserve (basij)
this is completly wrong

Iran's regular army has about 550,000 active forces and nearly 350,000 reserve forces.
IRGC has about 200,000 forces and 150,000 in reserve.
And about Basij,forget that 20M number.There is a maximum 2 millions forces (who can actually fight against a foreign invasion) and not 20 million.

The thread is to stimulate a discussion, and to show the military power of the Muslim world.
I know the source is not up to date nor absolutely accurate, but it s the only source with many statistics done by the CIA, which itself can only estimate the numbers based on available data to it, and of course not all the data is available even to the CIA.

In a case of a foreign invasion like in the times of the USSR or the US today, Iran can mobilize more than 40 million fighters, it was already planned against the USSR long time ago.
So, just by thinking about the formidable number it deters the most powerful wannabes invaders.
It is not for nothing that Israel asked the US to nuke Iran so as to kill as many as 30 million people!!!

no, even IRGC members is much more than regular army , and we have about 3-4 million forces , (one of the commanders told it in the TV) but i can't remember when he said that ....
