1. There is no singular identity. Indians are a collection of various religious, ethnic, linguistic identities. The diversity is recognised and trumpeted.

2.Sikhs have been killed en masse. Hindu's have been murdered in cold blood. Christians/Dalits everybody has gotten killed in dozens sometime in the last forty years. The people who commit such crime also happen to come to power in the next elections. It has happened so many times, with so many communities. The under lying fabric will not be affected by these.

These conflicts will not cross a certain threshold. As I said before the overwhelming majority will choose to live a better life despite the hyped up religiosity they may exhibit.
