Former military ruler and head of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) General (rtd) Pervez Musharraf predicted that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party are set to win 2018 elections unless a grand alliance of various parties is made to defeat these two parties.

Musharaf said that there was a 90% chance that PPP and PMLN will win elections from their traditional strongholds, including from possibly KP, if a third force is not formed to mount a challenge.

He said Imran khan alone cannot defeat PMLN and PPP because he has no plan.

The former president assured Imran Khan that he was not interested in taking over the office of prime minister.

At the press conference, Pervez Musharraf was accompanied by officer bearers of his party including European Organiser and former party president UK Afzaal Siddiqui, President APML-UK Tebraiz Aurah and Media Secretary Shaan Abidi.

“Imran Khan has done a lot to raise awareness on Panama case and other issues and deserves credit for that but he needs new thinking and rise above himself and look beyond. I say openly I have no desire to become the prime minister of Pakistan; I have the best understanding of Muslim ummah and Pakistan. I am not insecure and I can guarantee that I am ready to shake hand with Imran Khan and for that matter anyone on this planet who is against PPP and PMLN.”

When asked when he will return to Pakistan, Musharraf said that he was trying to get his cases resolved through courts but would return once there is mass public support behind him.

The former president said he is avoiding Pakistan because there’s no point in returning if his freedom of movement is restricted.

He said that Tabdeeli was needed in Pakistan because the country faces existential internal and external threats.

“Our economy is going down. Pakistan’s debt has crossed 70 billion rupees. We were about to be declared defaulted in 1999. I took Pakistan forward. I gave confidence to Pakistan. Everybody today wants to leave Pakistan, those in Pakistan are in a bad shape and I have the right solutions,” he said.

Pervez Musharraf said that former Indian prime ministers, Manmohan Singh and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, were good people and wanted to normalise relations with Pakistan but Narendra Modi’s intentions are against Pakistan.

He said that India’s institutions are fundamentally against Pakistan.

“India realises that there is no military solution in respect to Pakistan, so they are looking for non-military solutions by strangulating Pakistan’s economy, weakening Pakistan army, isolating Pakistan internationally and internally destabalising Pakistan. This is what India’s strategists are saying.”

On the question of Raheel Shareef taking up position as head of Saudi-led military alliance, Pervez Musharraf said that it was a ‘sensitive matter’ and was being seen in many circles in ‘sectarian terms’.

Musharraf said that ambiguities exist around Raheel Shareef’s appointment.

“If the position were offered to me by Saudi Arabia, I would have asked what the job is going to be, who I am going to lead and what are aims and objectives of this alliance,” however he added that Raheel Shareef was an excellent man, he hoped that the former army chief would make good use of his new role.

2018 elections are already shackles by ganja league & gadari party. IK & Gen. Musharraf have no choice but to shake hands for the sake of Pakistan, for this to happen IK will have to think properly & stop thinking that he is a one man army who can save Pakistan single handedly from the shackles of ganja & gadari, its not going to happen.

Too late mushy, you had the opportunity when you were in power to do something to cleanse Pakistan of these leeches but instead you gave Pakistan NRO.
Yeah now he is trying to portray himself as an angel. He did a lot of good stuff in his time but he did a lot of bad things too and he is totally responsible for the mess created by NS and Zardari as he gave them a clean chit and an opportunity to come back into power. He didn't do an across the board accountability, let NS escape the punishment, rather he created NAB with plea bargain and introduced a new way to legitimise corruption.

I think presently both Nawaz Party and PPP party are Bribing people "$$$$ Money grants" 1 years before election in most Developed democractic countries this action of distributing IMF cash $$$ like this would constitute BRIBING the people to vote for you

Literally cash handouts in name of Development , or other so called schemes

Quite disgusting really , it is one of the reasons why True Democracy cannot spread in Pakistan since we got this bribe culture just 7-9 months before elections

4 years stealing , and in Last 5th year, take from Government $$$$ and distribute widely to own sectors and demand voet in return (clear act of bribry)

No one has any record of where thsi money is coming from which both these parties are distributing to their local "Mohalas" and Farmland workers

Typically if it is established you "Paid" a group of people from Government account so that they can later vote for you or thru that influence of power or rather abuse of power the person is normally disqualified

Considering his last attempt at a gathering had barely a 150 people there, the general is better off living in his wealth; both from his time ruling and then his lecture circuits.

But like all fauji dictators, he is unable to accept irrelevance

Not only that, Musharraf also puts MQM on map which strangled the economy of Pakistan as whole since Karachi was the only major economical port of Pakistan, and still is until CPEC becomes another major economical ports which is not that far by the rate of progress hopefully.

Musharaf always wanted his party to be one of biggest three parties in Pakistan since 2013 he himself once said in an interview that he was in plan of creating third political force in country to compete PPP and PML(n) so that's why inorder to have alliance with PTI and get something out of that he is saying such sort of things. During his tenure what did he do let taliban enter in pakistan through afghan muhajir camp, gave clean chit to N.S and zaradari due to which they came to power and ruined everything, excessive freedom to media who have portrayed terrorist image globally, strengthened mqm who has destroyed karachi which was hub of our seaport and now he says that he is against ppp and pmln and is ready to shake hand with anyone who is against them(after giving them clean path). His time is gone now he would be barely able to grab two or three seats excluding gilgit baltistan. Until army or establishment is at his back his party cannot be evolved into big party of pakistan.

I don't think he is honest in his analysis and his motive seems to become the part of the alliance and get a significant role. Without any such alliance he can't win anything meaningful.

I would be happy to see him as foreign minister and IK as prime minister. A man can wish ...

Former President of Pakistan and All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) chairman General (r ) Pervaiz Musharraf has predicted that alliance of his party and PTI can bring about change in Pakistan.

While addressing a ceremony, the former president said “My party and Imran Khan’s party has the capability to bring due change in the country.”

He further mentioned that he agrees the stance of Imran Khan. “For national interest, I can be ally of PTI chairman and his party,” said Musharraf.

Furthermore, he rejected the final decision of Panama case. “Cannot give return date to Pakistan yet,” he added.

General (r ) Musharraf is in self exile since he left Pakistan to get treatment for his back issues since last year.

I would like the opposite. IK doesn't seem like a man with a plan. Mushy would be an amazing PM for Pakistan and IK a great foreign minister since he already has a good image abroad.

No doubt, he has an international stature, well-articulated and able to represent Pakistan like a statesman anywhere in the world. But I think ego may not let them do it since he has already been the president and COAS so becoming minister won't be acceptable for him but I think he can accept the role as a behind the scene advisor on foreign and security issues... more like de facto NSA. He can be useful as NSA.
