Mufti Muneeb hits back at Fawad on moon controversy

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) encouraged seeking the sighting of the moon. It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Fast when you see it and break the fast when you see it, and if it is too cloudy then complete the number (of days) of Sha’baan as thirty.” And it was narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The month is twenty-nine days, so do not fast until you see it, and if it is cloudy then complete the month as thirty days.” The first hadeeth enjoins fasting the month of Ramadaan when its new moon is sighted or when the month of Sha’baan is completed with thirty days, and it enjoins ending the fast when the new moon of Shawwaal is sighted, or when Ramadaan is completed with thirty days. The second hadeeth forbids fasting Ramadaan before the new moon is sighted or before Sha’baan has been completed if it is cloudy.

All this... plus... a little science.

First night moon stay in sky for like 3+- minutes, barely seen by human eye amd disappear within 2-3 minutes of maghrib azan/namaz. 2nd night moon stay for some 16-20 minutes, clearly can be seem by human eye. I, along thousands of others, experienced the second case last night. Hence saying, HOW were they unable to sight the moon a day before ? Maybe because there was no meeting ? Or maybe because they refused to take calls from KP. Whatever the reason. Logic amd science says that moon was supposed to be sighted 2 days ago, not last night.

Fawad Chaudry didn't criticise the committee, he attacked all Maulvis and even said disgusting things like they were against Pakistan

But yes, they were againt Pakistan. But not the molvis... a group of molvis comprised of deobandi ulema which made pretty much all of ulema involved in political struggle at that time.

But so did ANP and others.

I fully support Mufti Muneeb in his response to Fawad Chaudry. That fatso lota probably doesn't know that moon sighting is essential and calendars existed at Prophet Muhammad (saww) time too but still moon sighting was made mandatory.

The is simply stupid. The guy has stuck to this comety better then leeches.d8d he ever retire or something.

Moon sighting is a religious issue. What the f else would people care about sighting moon if not for religion.

And read the ahadiths on Ramadan. It's clear hwo you're supposed to start Ramadan and end it.

By seeing that moon and even taking pictures of it, you refused to follow Sunnah and follow Fawad Chaudry instead.

Perhaps if instead of bashing Maulvis all day, you actually bothered to learn Islam rather than follow Fawad, you'd know that you didn't fast out of your arrogant ignorance.

Remember Sunnah is greater than Fawad and Muneeb. You should've gone to the Masjid and gave Shahah and shown them the picture instead of pledged allegiance to government or Fawad Chaudry.

Also shows how fucked up the government is that they refused testimony of KPK people and call them liars.

Just because Mufti Muneeb is rejecting testimony doesn't mean we need Fawad Chaudry to give us calendars. He can shove that calendar up his....Mufti Muneeb isn't the only Maulvi in Pakistan

The moon is not required to be seen by some molvis.

I am not against anyone. I just want all those who are wrong or make mistakes to accept them. Yesterday my urdu/Punjabi/Saraiki speaking friends were mocking Pathans of KP saying “Yaar pathano ko suna hy cheezy aik din pehle dik jati hy.... zara wednesday ka paper to nikalwaao popalzai se”. And when i send them the pictures last night, well, everyone make mistakes.

While i agree that a new moon sighting dept needs to be constituted consisting of people with actual scientific credentials in the field and i think the current comitte is a bunch of egoistical jokers yet as of things stand right now, the Halal Committee is the national authority on declaration of start of Ramazan. Popalzai niether had nor has any right to make an entire province act in contradiction with the rest of the country. Pashtoons need to stop acting like elaqa gher ke tribals and start acting like consituents of the federation.

This moon sighting committee is not made by Punajbi for Punjabi but its committee of Pakistani government representing all provinces and dont know why bringing this ethnic debate in here

Agreed about both. The chairman of committee is creating an issue when there is none. If someone is coming to you with testimony then why not accept it.

Its pretty popular with them these days with PTM and all. To me whosoever talks about ethincity and identifies himself as pashtoon or punjabi is a million miles from Islam.

Everyone Einstein talks about religion with absolute lack of knowledge. In Islam, the sighting of moon is necessary and their is a detailed procedure. I would recommend him to learn some knowledge about Islam and only then comment on it.

With all due respect, i still trust these Maulvis more than people like Fawad Chaudry and scientific people like Pervaiz Behudaboy who was today asked for his expert opinions on Islam and this issue.

There's no scientific expertise needed, just an honest person who will accept or reject testimonies.
