Sources call MPT as Milli Piyade Tüfeği or as Modern Piyade Tüfeği... Which one is right ?.. IMO both of them are right too... :D

But what's it's official name ?..

I had hoped that a rifle would be produced that would signify Turkishness, the descendants of great empires. This rifle is but a copy, no originality at all.

When we think of;

US > M-16
Israel > Tavor
Britain > SA80
Germany > G36
Russia > AK
China > Type 95

Turkiye? That AR clone. This is what the International community will think, doesn't matter if it is a great rifle, it is a clone.

SSM messed up, MKEK shouldhave never been chosen to design and develop a national prestige.

Both AR and AK are german weapon clones specially AK

But in reality it is just German licensed German "tufegi". :lol:...

If you think the MPT-76 is a clone, you must also think the AK47 is a clone, because that's a hybrid of elements of previous rifles - the gas system of the German StG-44, the safety mechanism of the Model 8 and another part of the of the M1 Garand.

Isn't it weird though, how nobody calls the AK47 a clone? You know why that is? It's because it's not, and neither is the MPT-76. Both are, like most rifles, improvements on similar designs that came before them.

Jane's has an article that talks a bit about the differences in the design. Google "mpt-76 janes" and it's the first article.
