UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid on Wednesday said that a high-proportion of men involved in gang-based child exploitation in the country are of Pakistani descent, according to The BBC.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4 Today, Javid – who has Pakistani heritage – said that ignoring the ethnicity of abusers gives “oxygen” to extremists.

The home secretary had faced backlash for a tweet earlier this year referring to “sick Asian paedophiles”.

He said he wanted officials researching the causes of gang-based exploitation to leave “no stone unturned”.

Asked by the British-Pakistani novelist Kamila Shamsie, who was guest-editing the programme, whether he was concerned that his comments may have fuelled hate crimes, he said he was “very much aware of the need for politicians to be careful with their language”.

Grooming gangs have recently been convicted in Huddersfield, Oxford, and Rotherham.

“There could be – I’m not saying that there are – there could be some cultural reasons from the communities that these men came from that could lead to this kind of behaviour,” Javid said.

The home secretary has called for research into the “characteristics and contexts” of gangs abusing children, arguing that ignoring issues such as ethnicity is more likely to fuel the far-right.

“When I’m asking my officials to go away and do research to look into the causes of gang-based child exploitation, then I want them to leave no stone unturned and to look at everything,” he added.

“For me to rule something out just because it would be considered sensitive would be wrong,” he said.

“If I had ignored it, or been seen to ignore it, that is exactly what I think extremists would like to see in this country. It would give them oxygen and I refuse to do that,” he said.

I'm sorry but it's the fault of the British society. You can see similar trends in France and the Benelux states with Arabs, too.
The European societies don't teach our people that their behaviour will have consequences. Punish them severely to make them understand their misbehaviour. They couldn't dare to behave this way in Pakistan or North Africa.
But I also have sympathies for the immigrant communities. Many fear that the majority of the White people won't be able to distinguish between criminals and immigrants. A vicious cycle.

the fact is that the British born of Pakistani origin are found to be involved and highlighted in high profile cases and there is no escaping there. I have seen Bangladeshi and Indians as well in such gangs that had Pakistani guys. mainly these were Asian gangs that preyed on vulnerable girls

Factually speaking it is true. Just too many British-Paks have been locked up over this crime. In fact I know somebody who has gone down for this sick crime. So let's not fudge this. This is a dispicable crime perpetrated by animals.

With that caveat out of the way let me give you the context. In Philipines adjacent to US Navy base there was widespread prostitution with many victime being underage. The perpetrators were almost always Americans and the victims Filipino girls. But you could not draw from this that the American's were selecting Filipino girls. It was the circumstances. Young American males, repressed sexually, relatively better off then the Filipino girls who came from very poor backgrounds. Vulnerabilty meets the right conditions created the sexual abuse of young girls.

With referance to Pakistani's if you look at the perpetrators most are working in the night time economy. Taxi drivers, fast food joints, 24 hour convenience stores. In many areas of Britain we have huge council estates which are dumping grounds for the underclass. Broken families, drunken parents or drug addicted problem families. Many of the girls are from care homes. They tend to be wild, promiscous and many with drinking/drug problems. These type gather around in the evenings around the high streets with those night time establishments aas mentioned earlier. This is where vulnersability converges with the demograhic that takes advantage of the situation. As most of the texi drivers and late night workers smoke weed that becomes a catalyst. The guys then start giving them weed and the girls start gravitating around these establishments. Next thing the entire taxi stand joins in. Then of course at some point the whole thing blowes up and you find 10 guys go down.

I am not trying to reduce the crime but explaining the sociological aetiology behind it.

Yes. I remember a young scottish guy telling me how his female friends would have sex with Pakistani shopkeepers because they were relatively well off and could provide them with alcohol and cigarettes. Again, no excuses, but the girls made a voluntary choice.
