Weaker engine is a myth. A non proven rumour circulated by many news agency.

The fact is Z-10 gunship has equipped all army aviation of whole PLA proves something.

That means more than a hundred Z-10 gunships are in service!

This doesn't disprove that the Z-10 needs a more powerful engine. A turboshaft in the league of the WZ-10, used by the Z-20, would be sufficient.

Interestingly, original pilot that posted the pictures said he preferred these over the hellfire.

Then I see no reason to reject the whole package we are getting something comparable to hellfire.. A helicopter which can be overhauled in Pakistan including engine maintenance, non-stop supply of armament and spares, and upgrades for long-term... maybe we should opt for both a combination of western(turkish) only with engine overhaul facility and Chinese...
