. . . .
really ? looks like the selectors are compensating for something
I mean 23 mm is awesome and adequate for personnel and light vehicles and soft structures unless they are looking for a gun that can disable armoured vehicles and penetrate hard structures as well then OK yea go for 30mm.
Sir,
if there is an option to have 30mm then why not..After all attack helicopters main role is anti tank.

. . . . .
Not new thing, Apache also have 30mm gun.

Ok Sir. There are differences

Agree about what the 30mm Chain Gun on the Apache can do in hitting its target. But even the US Army admits that the 30mm cannon mounted on the Apache is only good against light armor. Where the 30mm cannon on the A-10A can engage light, medium or heavy armor. It just doesn't have the muzzle velocity to do the deed with a kinetic round like AP or Semi-AP. One of the miracles of the Apache 30mm cannon was how the US Army took the round developed by the UK/French and developed an enhanced HEAT round. With most light cannons HEAT rounds will not work because spinning degrades the penetration ability of a HEAT (shape-charge) round. Some how or another the US Army developed a HEAT projectile which is not degraded by the spinning of the round. To this day that round is classified (or was the last time I read up on it).

cant kill a tank with that gun. its role is anti personal and lighter vehicles. I dont know if Apache's chain gun has the ability to disable a tank with its high velocity depleted uranium rounds (and if those tanks are MBT class).. for anti tank role these gunships come with dedicated missiles that are used for that sole purpose.

30mm can take out armored vehicles, even 25mm gun on Bradley IFVs can do that.

Yes. A-10 Warthog has Gatling Gun, special ammo and is not comparable to normal 30 mm cannons afaik.
