That is a terrible way to analyse anything and very subjective.

I love it when people are more afraid of police forces (created to protect them) than criminals or terrorists.
Seriously,is the situation really bad in south asia ?

Yes its terrible. These folk here seem to think the tiny "SWAT" teams "competence" is a measure of the overall police force.

They have nothing really to base even the counter-terrorism on really since you cannot easily or effectively standardise what India's environment and political scenario is to that of Bangladesh for example.

They are all equally rubbish in every single metric to me. By virtue of the size of human resources and gut human nature, urban terrorists have low life expectancy esp when they put action to words/desires.....but little else to write home about compared to say GIGN.

I already said they are all equally bad pretty much (and its semantics to discuss which one you personally think are better in small fields that you think are more important than others). How does this imply Indian police is the best of the lot? Did you even read my post about different shades of shit?

It is very silly to call a force 'competent' only because of some achievements of special forces.

Actually,there is a high risk of encountering corruption in the police due to low salaries,lack of training and expertise. The bangaldeshi police is known to have a culture of total impunity and is said to be one of the least reliable police force.

In fact same can be said about others south asia police. When you see police abusing of their power,taking advantages on the weaks,or even fighting on the streets for bribes,there's something wrong.
It' very hard for people to trust an institution if it's corrupt or even incompetent to the core. No offence.

Of course,it would take time to transform those police forces into modern,efficiant and reliable police forces.

I think its not fair to compare "Indian" police as such with other South Asian countries. Different Indian states have different methods and different results. Police force is a state subject. An Andhra Police Force dept might be more efficient than a Bihar, UP and WB.
It depends on the conviction rates of different states. Someone needs to find a report of conviction rates of different stations. While high level cases are still politically investigated. There is no difference in that reg Andhra or Bihar. Police forces need more independence.
