Money or Strategic Interests?

Salute to the mighty Turks for that. Great people.

Thank you for that. Yes, indeed Pakistan is one of the few crucibles of civilization. That is why the Ganga nemesis is so intent on jumping on Indus which is one of the few fountanheads of human civilization.

I hate to prick the bubble. The Indus Valley civilizations went extinct. no one really knows why. other than accident of geography you have nothing in common with them.

@Sinopakfriend

I really appreciate that you took out the time and shared your candid and unbiased feedback on the topic and I do agree that our political class as well as the population (from mindset perspective) should realise the roles and responsibilities that Pakistan now have to undertake and successfully execute diligently and on a war-footing, in order to reap the maximum benefits from these arising opportunities.

To All Others,

Thanks for sharing your feedbacks.

Does that mean Liechtenstein is more relevant than Russia?
Money or economy defines the depth and reach of strategic interests.
USSR strategic depth was far higher than current Russia.During earlier decades India's strategic interests was just in SA region. Now it expanded to other region.
Again money defines the strategic interests
Pakistani's are stuck in the old world thinking.

Us vs Them. This block vs That block.

That is okay. Their social environment leads them to this particular thought process - growing up being told that their country is under siege. What we call 'siege mentality'.

The World today is not 'this vs that'. It is that of cooperation, competition and rivalry all at the same time. These nuanced thoughts are far beyond what our fellow board members can understand. @Kaptaan might be able to guess these, but it would be the British education talking.

-They fail to see that India cooperates with US against China militarily but cooperates with China against US economically.

- They fail to see that India fights with US bitterly on trade law but cooperates on nuclear law.

-They fail to see that Russia cooperates with India militarily(by sale of weapons directed against China) while Russia cooperates with China against US.

These are the shades of the upcoming world order. Pakistanis sadly are outmatched in the thought process itself in this new order.

There are only two thoughts they keep parroting verbatim - 'strategic location' and 'this block' vs 'that block' maybe coupled with the idea that China is their saviour.

@Syed.Ali.Haider @Oscar - Your opinion on my reading of Pakistanis?

@Kaptaan - I take back my mistake of tagging you. All your posts nowadays seem to have just one kind of content - ganga valley, indus valley...stop. Repeat.

Lately, a lot of discussions about Pak-China, Pak-Russia and Pak-Turkey relationship have been derailed by Indian members of PDF, for example, in case of Pak-Russia relationship, by citing that Pakistan hasn't got the money to persuade Russia to sell it high-end military goodies like the Su-35.

I am wondering, is it money that has made Russia approach Pakistan (and Pakistan reciprocating) and offer to re-write and strengthen the relationship, OR, is it related to Russia's medium and long-terms plans in the region and beyond. If earlier, then Russia really doesn't need Pakistan at all and there was no point in Russia opening up those tightly-shut windows and doors towards Pakistan, as it did recently. If the later, then it has nothing to do with financial gains out of military sales, but has much much more to do with forming a strong group/block in the region, starting from Russia right upto Europe's entry gate, Turkey.

I am of the view that all this is a part of a much larger and grander plan and Pakistan, with it's military prowess, nuclear capability and strategic geographical location, offers to be a quintessential ally for both Russia's and China's future strategic plans in the region. Iran also is an indispensable variable in this equation and as important as Pakistan for Russia and China. Short-term monetary gains arising from military sales transactions is not the goal of either China or Russia, but forming a solid eastern block in the region which is capable of countering any US-led NATO offensive in the region, is. Once the later is achieved, the monetary gains to reap in the medium to long term will be exponentially higher than short term gains.
Many Pakistanis have this obsession of conspiracy theories and speculation of global politics. Its common to see some Pakistanis in PDF and in Pakistani media(e.g Zaid Hamid) having this obsession. This is not cold war. The imminent threat is not Russia and WWII has been forgotten. The western world is stable now. Its a give a take world where economy speaks. The only threat is Jihadi Islamic terrorism.

People like poster of the opening thread should stop worrying about USA, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Russia, axis of power, block etc. fancy terms. The countries mentioned are much more developed countries. The developing countries like India and Pakistan should align its diplomacy such that they can get most of investment and technology to push the country to middle income economy.

I respect your views and I do agree that these shades have existed and still do, but where we are going from here, based on the changes I'm observing globally and in our region, I see the number of shades vanishing and moving more towards an "either this or that" scenario. Ofcourse, I can be wrong and so can you be wrong. Only time will tell.

Are you suggesting the people too went extinct? That our ancestors suddenly popped out of holes in the ground once the people above disappeared? Lol.

So today's Turkish people are not related to ancient Anatolians because their civilization went extinct? Correct?

Are you stupid?

An educated person should not generalise. On the above quoted comment, any Pakistani can retaliate by saying "Indians are still unable to get out of ghulam-wala mindset, having spent several hundred years under Muslim Rulers". But doing so would be wrong.

Lolx. even China was not able to maintain 8+% of growth more than a decade.

Really ?
They maintained near 10% growth for more than two decades ,even came nearer to 15%.

India's unique features enable us

I would disagree. Pakistan, like all sovereign nations, has pursued its national interests as best as it can given its particular set of very difficult circumstances. With the recent changes in the region, it is in the process of changing its policies as well, which will take a few years to implement, given the magnitude of the change needed to adapt. How well it manages this crucial transition remains to be seen, but it is wrong to think that Pakistani thinking has not kept up with the times.

And all this have to be done keeping in mind the broader national interest and specially the times to come. We do not see the shift in alliances of geopolitics of this magnitude that we are likely to see in comming few years. The process have begun and now it is all about keeping pace with it.

Strategic interest is important because if you achieve it you end up getting money
