Millions of locusts from Iran have invaded Pakistan

Once its was served to us in Yemen u can imagine the reaction of us Pakistanis :rofl:

One of my friends from morocco once cooked snails for me apparently it's a delicacy. I thought it was a prank .

Can u guide me how prawns n other sea food is haram? Anything that breathes under water is halal. If u have any specific references plz share.

Very dangerous thing and they are virtually unstoppable.

The best way to stop them is to lead them to a storm or dessert, though thats not easy. One solution would be to unleash thousands of hungry birds on them.

Hanafi Mazhab traditionally declares shellfish as haram. Although now there are many different opinions on the matter even in Hanafis. You can find hadith on both sides, along with legal rulings.

I think the best solution is to catch and consume the locusts. It is Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad saws and also it will save the environment.

We can also export locusts at a high price to Arab countries and China. I am sure they will pay hefty price for them as they are delicacies there.

I heard Lobster was haram but Shrimp was Makroo tho, however I am lover of Shrimp and Prawns tho I dont eat as a lot only on occassions

I eat everything, including crab, lobster, octopus, and squid. Japanese food with Eel also. There is a specific Sahih hadith which says anything from the sea is halal.

Ofcourse everyone has the right to make the decision for themselves. Islam is not narrow when it comes to these issues.

Listen, lizards are not halal... so Saudis may have misinterpreted. But few things are mentioned by name in Holy Quran and Hadeeth like pig, blood are haram in Quran while dog is haram based on fiqh while fish and locust are halal through hadeeth.

sarcastic or innocent / ignorant?
can we expect anything good from sindh government?:D

Problem is with Fatwa issuers. They are mostly clueless on animals they declare to be halal.

Chicken eats own poop as it has undigested food in it. It will survive easily if you don't let it. Not a dietary requirement.

Whereas Rabbits get sick if not allowed to eat own poop. It's digestive system won't function properly without it. A dietary requirement, just like pig's.
dont declare something haram which Allah has not made haram. there are many hadiths in sahi bukhari and muslim according to which rabbit was presented to the Prophet Muhammad SAW and the companions ate it . extremism in every aspect is disliked in islam.

What the hell! Where are the PAF? :o:

A massive swarm of locusts has migrated from Iran to Pakistan, raising fears that an attack on the country’s prized cotton crop could be imminent.

Millions of insects have recently invaded Sindh, Pakistan’s second-largest cotton producing province, according to the Ministry of National Food Security and Research. Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government has deployed aircraft and spray-mounted vehicles to treat about 10,000 acres in the southern province as a preventative measure.

“The insects have not hit our crops so far, fortunately,” Muhammad Hashim Popalzai, a federal secretary at the food security ministry, said on the phone from Islamabad.

Pakistan is desperate to prevent further decline in its cotton industry as it seeks to shore up its economy after securing a bailout package from the International Monetary Fund last month. The country’s textile industry is its biggest job provider as well as its largest foreign exchange earner.

Pakistan mainly depends on home-grown cotton for its textile industry. Output in the year to June is forecast to fall about 18% to 9.86 million bales, the lowest in at least 17 years, according to official data.

The migration
Initially from the Arabian Peninsula, the desert locusts swarmed from the Red Sea coast of Sudan and Eritrea in January, hit Saudi Arabia and Iran in February, and southwestern Pakistan in March, the ministry said.

The authorities have already treated some areas in insurgency-hit southwest Balochistan province, which has a relatively small cotton crop, said Falak Naz, a director general of crop protection at the ministry.

The bigger concern is for Sindh and Punjab provinces, the country’s top cotton growing areas. Falak said the insects were feeding on wild bushes in Nara desert, about 20 kilometers away from the cotton crop in Sindh.

“We expect it will not damage the crop and we will be able to restrict it there,” said Popalzai.

I would have eaten because it is halal ...
People eat shrimps, prawns & crabs ..a lot of scholars in Arab world call them haram so there is doubt in it but Locusts are halal and halal like fish

the best way to eat them is to dry them take all the moisture away from them and then grind them to powder. once that is done mix it with wheat and create a locust roti. That way you get perfect protien without the disgust element.

I dont.. i dont like seafood..

Neither would anyone who isn’t from the Coastal areas.

P.S: isn’t crab haram?

I have eaten crab as a medicine. There are crabs in streams of our village in mardan. My grandmother dried and crushed them and fed a little to me when I was 1-2 years old as medicine for some kind of stomach ache.

A lot of scholars in Arab world call it haram but in certain areas like Bd, Indonesia people eat them... and their scholars think it is halal because of their misunderstanding of the word fish... Prawn, shrimps, crabs, lobsters, mussels, octopus, squids are not fish...not even science classifies them as fish... these are from phylum Mollusca
I used to eat shrimps but later I met good scholars and they guided me so I stopped since then
But Locust is halal and very clear hadeeth is there about it

It is haram bro... not makroo

I don't think so. Its clear that animals that strictly lives on the sea and not living in dual nature is halal. There were some opinions about crab that also lives on both land and sea, and such crab is haram, except crabs that only lives at sea. Otherwise it would be a very painful life for us people who lives surrounded by waters, even worse for the people who lives in tiny islands like Micronesia.
