There was no control by Pakistan or its army in a whole part of it. We paid for all the operations and more. The results are far less than satisfactory if I am completely honest.

Also I think you are totally wrong about the compensation. Pakistan stated raising money to do the operations in northern Pakistan to support Afganistan. They asked for 8 billion in total. USA gave 4 billion and rest need to be collected as aid. We end up paying 22 billion after that. For a war that has nothing to do with us, which means Pakistan has to claim its own territory from terror operations.

Yes there position against Kurds is a problem and has been contained to full extent. Russia is a bigger issue at hand; not only because Syria but also Ukraine. Since that is uneasy alliance against ISIS but it works in our favor. This breakdown of ceasefire is more of a problem for for Russia as it is going for soviet fallout 2.0. They are loosing more than $40 billion dollars by sanctions and lost another 20% of their GDP because of oil prices. Even the free falling currency is not helping either. They cannot afford the war or a secondary one. The silver lining for USA is that they control the exit of Russians from the war. They cannot leave on downward pressure hence the talks in the first place.

Still, did you try to search about congressman session that grilled your Sec. Well, to understand such complicated things you have to be open minded and come with open heart. None played innocent in such games but putting the blames at one side only is not fair to progress. I am sure and you may understand as well, both sides are aware that who did what with whom and the existing engagement to the some extent is an evidence that none came with clean hands hence need each other.
