Don,t be misled by those nos.

There Soldiers are far better equipped PER MAN with 21ST CENTURY comms equipment and lethel small arms and infantry combat gear.. than anything in the subcontinent.

ALL THERE SUBS are nuke powered.

There frigates & destroyers origniate from late 1990S AND HAVE STEALTH.

Theire Airforces far smaller than IAF and even smaller than PAF but their weapons are contemporary ie modern not mig21/23 AND MIRAGES from 50 years ago.

RAF by 2020

180 Typhoon F2/F3
80 JSF F35 mk2
70 Tornado upg
70 Harrier GR9

UPTO 6 AWACS and dedicated Satalites for network centric warefare.

just look at their defense budget over $60 billion.

Compare india at $32billion or Pakistans at $7billion.

DIFFERENT CLASS in training and equipment

It is incorrect to compare forces of the three of the most advanced nations with the armies of the subcontinent on numbers alone.

British Army in particular has the history of rapid expansion and equally rapid demobilization after the wars. For example total military strength of British Army was 225,000 with Territorials and Reservist numbering another 300,000 early 1939. However with the general conscription, strength increased to over 1-million by the year end. By the end of the war in 1945 British Army consisted of 3.5 million men with 60 divisions.

Each successive year since 1945 we have seen numbers of the British Army reduced, especially under the Labor governments. This process accelerated after the end of cold war when the Army strength was reduced to about 120,000 active soldiers. This is mainly because UK, as a member of NATO does not perceive any threat in the immediate future which she will not be able deal with either alone or with the help of fellow NATO members. For example UK successfully defeated Argentina in the Falklands in 1982.

Not only has the UK state of the art weapons systems; UK also possesses material resources and the technical knowhow to produce all the additional tanks, guns and ammunition, helicopters, aircrafts , destroyers and submarines needed to defeat a third world country. Even if pitched against a giant like India, UK might suffer initial setbacks, just as they did against Germany until 1942, but capacity to sustain the hostilities is so great that Britain would ultimately prevail.

We are talking about the 4TH 5TH 6TH largest GDPs in the world.

Technololgy wise only behind USA and some instances better or comparable to Russia .

I HAVE ALWAYS believed how developed you are as a NATION and how strong your Economy is IN MY opinion a TRUE MEASURE of your military capability.

Big players like India and even China could do worse then exchange or buy Technology from these European powerhouses eg Rafale Or Typhoon.

UK: has strategies and fairly good soldiers. performance predictable and stable.
France: largely depends on their commander and their morale. performance unpredictable and unstable.
Germany: never confront a pack of Germans with guns unless you have a very big bomb. highly methodical and predictable but lack flexibility

Germany is a sleeping Super power giant.

When Germany goes to War or in Sport THEY GENERALY go to win.

They are very methodical, very smart and hugly organised.

Infact a fight to death in Europe Germany would beat anybody in Europe.

Infact a fight to death in Europe Germany would beat anybody in Europe.

Various signals indicate that Germans want to play again after more than half a century of silence.

`beat anybody' part, did I say "unless you have a very big bomb?" There are a couple of European countries have very big bombs. :cheesy:

Germans lack flexibility. They probably never have a plan B, or at least it's part of plan A. But they should certainly try to walk out their closet and be proud of themselves.
