Major General Nasr Salem, former head of the Egyptian reconnaissance apparatus, adviser to the Nasser Military Academy, said that there is an international plan to create chaos in Egypt and to show that it is unable to secure Sinai or protect its territory.
Salem added in a statement to al-Ghad: "The terrorist organization is seeking to establish an Islamic emirate with Sinai as its capital. It will gathers all the mujahideen from all over the globe. But they do not know that every soldier on this land is ready to sacrifice the last drop of his blood in order to protect all of the Egyptian land."
Salem said that terrorism is picking up its last breath as a result of the security siege and the tightening its grip on the Sinai. "There is no country in the world that can deal with a suicide bomber," he said. Thus, the Rafah terrorist incident is not proof of any security deficiencies of the armed forces or police in the Sinai.
He appealed to the Arab countries to unite to confront terrorism, which is threatening all the Arab region, with a strategic plan to combat extremism, and to address all the states that supports it, whether with money or weapons.
