That is exactly what he wants, people going back to 14th century riding camels,horses,bullock carts and using sickles in fields.That is the idea of class struggle and socialism back to stone age.

Metro pod has a capacity of 6,000 people per Hour.

Mono Rail has capacity of 10,000 people per hour.

That makes the Cost of Metro Pod cost 1,583 $ per person.

Mono Rail will cost ~ 2,500 $ per person.

I read it, I re-read it, and i re-reading it but I am still of the opinion Pod is better option. It is like your own space within public transport. Like your own compartment in the metro. as Pod will run on dedicated line with quality interiors and will provide point to point connectivity.

But i would also like the government to work on the last mile connectivity. As this is the most cumbersome area and because of this, many people are not opting for the public transport.
The nearest metro station from my home and office are approx 2-3 kms, but to cover that portion i end up spending 20-30mins each side, due to erratic drivers, low quality buses, no pedestrian friendly pavements, and then humid and hot delhi's weather...the time i will reach metro station if i go by my own car i will reach my office that too without sweating/irritation etc. So this last mile connectivity needs to be taken up as priority.

Since the Infra required for Pod is lighter, less expensive and takes up very little space, the possibility of providing the last mile connectivity is far higher.

Truth is this idea needs to be tried out at least once to understand its feasibility as a cheaper mass transit method.

Its a good move by the Modi govt.

This idea was mooted for T2 at Bombay airport, from the multi level car park to terminal building to cityside development, but it proved to be a massive headache to implement. Heathrow's T5 has a pod car system in place for J/F class travellers, although it works differently than the one shown in the renders above.

I hope this project gets last the mile connectivity it deserves.

Operating costs are going to be heavy.... I don't think it can ferry more than 4-5 passengers a time. ... in a tourist area it might work

If the current project is a pilot project when in it is connecting only one commercial hub with another without going through the residential area and just restrict itself by running in parallel to NH8 , then i am not sure how successfull it will be.

Currently it is being planned to start from toll plaza of Delhi-gurgaon..now there is no residential colonies around it. What kind of target passenger this pilot is targeting. Most of the people will not able to board it, as it will be very very far away from residential colonies, then how is it gonna be successful pilot?

Earlier there was a plan to have it from Dhaula kuan in delhi to Badshapur. Now that route makes sense as Dhaula kaun is already a station for Airport line, a new metro station is coming up on the new line which runs along ring road and also dhaula kuan being an existing bus terminal and center of city for interchange, there will be massive footfall to enjoy this ride...But now with the changed route, this will fail.

The start and end terminal for the pilot shuld be connected with existing public transport stations (either metro, bus terminal, taxi stand or residential colonies to have last mile connectivity.)

Last mile and inter-modal connectivity is KEY to the success of any urban transportation project.

Not true. It will be like any other auto stand or taxi stand. There will be a bunch of pods that will line up continuously.

That still doesn't give the operating costs... of course it's going to be heavy... it's already in dubai... could you point out how much a single trip would cost compared to the operating cost of a trip ??? And would it be possible for the general public of India to pay

So can somebody correct me if I am wrong ..but these pods can't have intermediate stops right?

It just has a starting point and a destination unlike a metro which can make many stops.?


So this is basically a different niche of public transportation?
